KHMH Board to make decision about enterobacter outbreak

That’s good news for Buckley…. But there is also some news for the grieving parents of newborns who died at the K.H.M.H. as a result of a bacteria outbreak in the first three weeks of May. Since the cause of the deaths was revealed, there has been a scarcity of information out of the facility. But Nisbet-Cansino says that silence does not mean inactivity in this case. In fact, she says that the Board of Governors has made some very important decisions coming out of the findings of the PAHO report and their own investigation. Nisbet-Cansino would not go into details because relevant persons have not yet been informed, but it sounds like someone’s head is going to roll.

Chandra Nisbet-Cansino – Chairlady, KHMH Board of Directors

Chandra Nisbet Cansino

“We’re probably not working at the pace the public would want us to work at but we have a lot of people that are engaged in the progress. I think first and foremost we want people to know that the hospital is safe as a hospital can be. We don’t want you to fear anything because the board is very engaged. We are making some decisions; unfortunately we haven’t told or discussed our decisions with all the relevant persons so we can’t really give you much information on that. I could tell you that we are going to be issuing a release very shortly on what has been done, what will be done and possibly to answer more of the publics’ questions. The board is taking the PAHO report very seriously. We have discussed it several times, it’s a long report and if u looks at it, it goes beyond just the issue at hand which was the neonatal tragedy. So the board is taking it very seriously, we are taking our time to dissect the report and we just want to ensure the public that the safety of the public is our utmost priority. I would nopt be able to say that at this time.”

News Five has been reliably informed that the Board’s decisions will be made public as early as the end of this week.
