Jimenez expresses confidence in the National Team

And while nobody can dispute or disagree with Jimenez’s reasons for coming home, the fact is that his offensive runs in the game between Belize and the U.S.A. provided some of the few bright moments for the Jaguars. He told News Five today that he is confident that whoever replaces him on the roster will do well. Jimenez also shared his analysis of Team Jaguars’ performance in the Belize/USA game, the interaction between the US and Belize players and his thoughts about the upcoming game against Costa Rica.

Danny Jimenez, Forward, Belize Jaguars

“Basically I think dah mi wah lost of concentration for Belize because we were down two-nil and then we bring the game to one. And I think when we score that goal, the whole team lose focus and I think some of the main players weh fi mi play big fi we neva play big. Fi some reason dehn mi nervous for something and that dah weh cause…mek we get the amount ah goals against we. Alll I want to say to the Belizean  public is that the team—even though we lost six-one, we gone out there with fi we mind to try do the best. Most of us put in we all and we do wi best. I just want dehn follow the team because the team deh out deh di go through a lot of situation; my situation, Kuylen situation and a lot of things happen like vibes before we left the country and we still gone through all of that. And I just want the Belizean public continue support the team. The U.S. players dehn show we a lot of respect because me for one, I see when…because I mi di mark the captain for the U.S. team and during the game he mi di talk to me and say that Belize could play ball, but we just need to keep focus because at time we easy to lose control and when we touch the ball, we could make plays and we make fi dehn defense get hard time. And yes Donovan mi give Ian Gaynair ih shirt and also the young bwai Torres came after the game and tell em that he like how I play and then he just give me ih jersey too.”

Danny Jimenez

“Do you think that that the team can regroup and come back to get a victory?”

Danny Jimenez

“Definitely. I left and I tell dehn that I believe that dehn could win Costa Rica. When dehn win Costa Rica, like I say, I fi fly out back Monday or Tuesday fi go meet dehn or to play against Cuba or goh meet dehn dah the second round. So definitely dehn wah do good for den yah last two games.”

Jimenez told us that depending on the situation with his mother, he may return to Connecticut on Monday or Tuesday to rejoin the team for its game against Cuba.
