Openly gay and says he’s here to stay

There is some confusion right now surrounding the pro-constitution rallies and anti-gender policy protests being held across the country. The evangelical associations and other affiliated organizations are moving ahead full steam with sirens blazing, while the more established Council of Churches seems to be taking the diplomatic and more circuitous route. Only time will tell if they reach the same place as far as the approach towards homosexuality, UNIBAM and the gender policy are concerned. But in the meantime, the group in the Christian spotlight does have an opinion on the matter, and a strong one at that. With the exception of a Facebook presence and the vocal Caleb Orozco, there has not been much coming out of the L.G.B.T. community. But on Tuesday News Five spoke to several gay persons on the outskirts of the demonstration. They’re angry at the church, and ready to break free.

Aaron Mai, Openly Gay

“The reason why I’m frustrated is that not only have I heard, but I have seen the internal issues which plague the church. If the Constitution of Belize was built on the principles of the bible, why aren’t divorce, fornication and adultery against the law? If we’re going to be fair, let’s be fair. And if the church is going to heaven I’d rather go to hell.”

Mike Rudon

“Do you agree with what they are saying? They are saying that there is a homosexual agenda…that the homosexuals are going towards marriage. They want to be married. That is one of their goals down the line.”

Aaron Mai

Aaron Mai

“We do not have an agenda. We want to live free. We want to be able, if I am gay, to be openly gay without discrimination from community, family, friends, job site…health. If I should want to get married, that is nobody’s business but my own. That is what I believe.”

Voice of Homosexual

“I’m free to a certain extent, that’s why I’m doing this. But you know we’re doing for the betterment of the others. I have a lot of friends who are in the closet and they refuse to come out because of the issue of discrimination that’ we’re facing with the churches issue as well as jobs and the whole community itself. It’s really messed up how the church is creating so much hate against gay people. It’s not funny. You see I go over there where the demonstration is everybody looks at me with hate stares when the church is supposed to be creating unity they’re creating hatred towards homosexuals.”

Mike Rudon

“Would you want to be able to openly be on the streets and say I am gay and I am free to sleep with another man if I choose?”

Voice of Homosexual

“Well it’s not really about being out on the streetsand saying I want to sleep with a man. It’s about you freely expressing yourself. It’s not really about being flamboyant about it and creating a big scene about it. It’s just that you want to be free from all the discrimination and the violence. A lot of people believe that because we are homosexuals we do not believe in God. I do. I believe in God but I do not believe in the church. The church is only a system that was created to control the population. To me it is the biggest lie that was ever created to control humanity and I don’t go with that.”

Reporter

Do you believe that you will be punished by God for being a homosexual?

Voice of Homosexual

“You know…God is a loving God and he loves you whatever it is that you do and you know, there are consequences to everything that you do. But if it is a choice that I make and it is something that I want to do then why does it bother you?”

The ruling by Chief Justice Kenneth Benjamin in the case of Caleb Orozco versus the Attorney General is expected to be delivered this month. That ruling on Section fifty-three of the criminal code will determine if consensual sex between two men will be decriminalized.

  1. Al says:

@Mr Mai, I hope you read this. First of all sin is a spiritual issue not a legal one. You people who want the law to change to please you have an issue with man’s moral law, but a bigger one with God’s rules.

Divorce: God allowed divorce because of the hardness of man’s heart, when they wanted to put away their wives, that was the only reason.

Fornication: The Bible speaks of fornication as a spiritual sin, and is a part of what is punishable when one stands before the judgement of God, if one dies without repentance.

Homosexuality: God created sex between a man and a woman so that they could create new life to enjoy what he saw as a beautiful earth before people like you screwed it up. It is impossible for two men to replenish the earth and create new life. The rear of a man or woman is made for the purpose of eliminating waste from the body, not to be penetrated for sexual pleasure.

Just because to you God is an unseen person, he still exist and is still hurt by the sins that we commit. One day when we each take our turn standing before him at our judgement, the Bible says there will be knashing of teeth and weeping. There will be many excuses I did not mean to do it, I did not really know it was wrong.

I do not hate you or any practicing homosexual or anyone who sins, that is what Salvation is for. I hate the deceiver Satan who is telling people it is okay to sin against God. The Bible says that Satan comes to steal to kill and to destroy. He is destroying many people, spiritually turning them against God an making sure they will not go to heaven, through sexual sins he is killing them physically with AIDS.

God is not looking for perfect people or heaven would be empty. What God is asking is that we try to be obedient to do what he tells us is of a sin nature and against all that is good in his sight.

Sleep with whom ever you want to sleep with, but don’t cause a whole country to be destroyed because you want this evil thing to be recognized. Remember Sodom and Gomorrah. Read the Book of Romans in the Bible you will see where it talks about homosexuality as unnatural.

Jesus loves you, all you have to do is put this thing away and ask him to make you strong to walk away from it. Jesus is waiting.

  2. Liberty & Freedom says:

The LGBT community is entitled to the freedom from discrimination. It is the definition of discrimination that has to be addressed. A Church is a private organization. They are authorized by God to perform certain “ceremonies”, including marriage. They can deny marriage between members of the LGBT community. That is their agenda – they have one and it includes children Again, for the reason of getting your attention go to nambla.org. At the bottom of the article you should have noted sex between a woman and woman, man and animal and woman and animal.
Let’s make certain people understand what Caleb and his friends really want…….

  3. Love others! says:

The Bible was written by man, so who are you to be quoteing it for your convenience. Since you want to get Biblical the Bible also say to treat others fairly and love thy neighbour, it didn’t say if your neighbour was gay to not like him or condemn him… We were thought Jesus loved all his children! So people stop bringing God in a battle against your fellow human beings.
I applaud Caleb and all you who are fighting for your cause, your strong and brave and I applaud you and support you 100. Things need to be changed, the world is changing and people need to realize that, let no one, no man or woman tell you who u can or cannot love! You guys are fighting to be treated equally and I Respect that.. Equality for all. Lets not quick to judge because we never know in this lifetime who we will come accros, maybe our children, may be our brother, maybe our sister who will be gay, let’s stop and think how we would want them to be treated! Gay, straight, undecided I respect everyone and I treat them all with the level of equality as I wld want to be treated! Continue fighting, they are so many straight people who are behind you guys!

  6. Greenhauler says:

    @ AL, Amen to that!

  7. Meandi says:

Good Job Aaron! It takes balls to stand up for who you are and I am happy for you and all the brothers and sisters who are homosexuals. For those bible thumpers – Religion is a man made power structure, created by the smart cavemen to control the stupid ones. What better control mechanism but to create an all powerful, all knowing being who controls everything, is vengeful when defied and only YOU can speak to…. WWJD . . . . Jesus’ enemies tended to be people who performed exactly this kind of marginalization on the despised ones like these so called christians.

  8. cg says:

One side is taking on a non-existent spiritual battle since the bible says to take care of the flock and look for more disciples…while the other just wants to be bold sinners and wants the law to put make it right…ok……is it just me or is something wrong with all of this??

  9. Rocket says:

If this law should be pass, then the Government have to extract all the straight People from San Pedro and have all the Gays and lesbians to go and live in an confine area like San Pedro. They should later be given a permit to come inland for a certain time and then must return to their island (San Pedro). There they can live there own life style they want without contaminating the rest of the population.

  10. Belizean Pride says:

IT’S A PITY HOW THIS YOUNG MAN TENDS TO SAY AND i QUOTE ” And if the church is going to heaven I’d rather go to hell.” young man one day you’ll be sorry for this, be thankful that there is still chance for you to ask God to help you with this issue and to help over come such feeling that you have. The moment you said this words, it’s a pity for real. You might not understand it now but later I life if God wants you’ll regret it Mr. Mai.
Nothing is impossible for the God we all serve and he can but you have to make your part also. Even if we pray for you and you don’t make your part nothing will happen. So please rethink your words and ask God to help you, God is love and he loves the World but he wants us to live the life we wants. Hope you read my comment Mr. Mai.

  11. belizean says:

my fellow brother as you say GOD LOVES YOU BUT HE HATES AND DISGUST SINS…. GOD IS LIVING GOD AND NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE ALMIGHTY… CUIDADO PORQUE NO SOLAMENTE DIOS ES AMOROSO TAMBIEN ES FUEGO CONSUMIDOR….

  12. Belize land of the free says:

God,s Law and man’s law are two different issues. God created life he gives it and takes it away.
He created the human race, not perfect but good. We all have flaws in life. one sexual orientation
dose not make him or her lest human. ” Love your neighbor as you love yourself” is not what God said. I am a God loving person and I do not protest against what he created, I follow the commandment, He gave to us. ” people go to church and and still preach hatred, to others”
Times change, and time to respect the ways of others, what they do in the privacy of there home is not our concern. I hope that GOB will stand and give the people the rite to live free under man’s laws, as a start. ( church and state is that not under our constitution)

  13. jill says:

these gays are getting bolder now, let me tell you this even if a law is pass discrimination will never cease so it’s pointless Stop lash out at the church because the only place I see hate is with these gays, the church is standing up for what they believe but doing it in a peaceful way but not only the church look at all the Belizeans marching from district to district ,that are against this homosexual agenda. this is to show that these poles online are in-accurate most Belizean are against this deviant behavior . ps, stay in the closet where you belong and nuh try come get bold ya and try corrupt the young minds

  14. Belizean says:

Sorry @MEANDI That guy Aron doesnt have “BALLS” ..Gay people dont have that. They are the worse wimps I have ever known. The claim of being discriminated! HAHAHAH Thats outrageous!!!! They are the ones discriminating against the Christians..

  15. Carlos says:

What does LGBT stands for? Please somebody.

  16. Rep.Me says:

Its so sad to hear all these sick pple acting like this is a very serious situation and needs much attention. If we hadn’t pay much attention to this type of crap it wudnt hav gotten this far, but its done and we got to fight against it. Mr. Mai is right its not any of our business who u wants to sleep around wit but it becomes ours wen u all put it out there fools. If u dnt put ur crap to the public hw will they knw about it. we dnt care if u’ll want a man to hav sex wit, wat we really care about is our children and the community, Hw will we explain to them that this is not right wen they will see it happening without any consequences to it. Who will believe its wrong if their is not a punishment to. @ Love Others -that’s wan of our worst problem we are faced with, we knw that this gay shit is wrong and dnt want to agree wit it but bkaz a family members of ours is related to it, we tend to agree and play as if though its right and dnt affect us. Hw is ur brother was satan right hand, wud u choose to be his too? Bashing the churches for doing the right and not making equality of discrimination to fornication and divorces. How does that affects us as an individual or society wise? who says we were ment to be for one person, however we were born for a reason “Procreation” or “A man for a woman and vise versa” can be clearly seen by God’s way of first life. Adam and Eve. we have no hatry for gays wat we hate is the stupid idea to interfare with the laws and turn u’ll right into wrong making acceptable and right in the light of all, witout any comments are rejects.!!!!!!!!! Come on the world or life doesnot change we the people change and changes life and the world we live in

  17. Brightman says:

Some of the comments here confirm that the church (while it has some genuine believers, is comprised of many genuinely confused individuals, and even more HYPOCRITES) continues to wield its grip on the gullible and seeks to control the masses for its OWN agenda to preserve its oligarchy and livelihoods of its leaders…this is NOT about GOD..it’s about repressing people as they have done for centuries and manipulating the masses! People will no longer tolerate this hypocrisy and the real damage it is doing to many young people who are questioning their identity and who have to live closeted, lies, and often double lives!! I truly do hope God exists, because the fire and brimstone will fall on those wolves dressed in sheep’s clothing living lavish lives and cloaked in self-righteousness. BRAVO Unibam, bravo Aaron..you do not stand alone!

  18. Al says:

@Loveothers, sorry this si so late, the Bible also says what does the just has to do with the unjust. If God were to embrace mans’s sin he could not be God. He forgives them he does not condone them. Read your Bible please.

  19. Twinkle says:

Oh stop with the bible….are you all God? No, so stop judging. Only God should judge. Do u think one sin is greater than another? I don’t think so. In fact, Al, the bible says that. sin is sin. none is greater than the other. And guess what, you sin too. Am pretty sure all of us sin, EVERYDAY!! So we are equally sinning, no sin is greater than the other. So open your eyes. What are these people taking from u, not one shit. They just want to be happy. Live your life, don’t judge others, none of them come knocking at your door asking for any favors, so just live your life. Stop worrying about others. Shucks!!!!!!!!!!

    Carlos, LGBT stands for :

    Lesbian
    Gay
    Bisexual
    Transgendered.

I am sure you know what each of the words are but just to be clear

Lesbian means a female who has sex with another female.

Gay (at least in this context) means either a male who has sex with another male or a female who has sex with another female so it seems somewhat redundant to mention Lesbians as a separate category but the activists do for some reason.

Bisexual means someone who will have sex with both males and females.

Transgendered means either a male who wants to be identified as a female or a female who wants to identified as a male.

Unfortunately in the United States the homosexuals/bisexuals seem to have won. The next big culture fight will be with these so called transgendered people who want among other things use of the bathroom of the other gender. No joke unfortunately, but of course Belize doesn’t have to follow the lead of the United States here.

On a side note, the so called “sex” activists have identified Five Genders. There’s the real ones (Male and Female) but apart from that they have created homosexual, bisexual and transgendered.

Again, It is up to Belize if they want “to go with the flow” of the other countries in the world or if they want to forge a distinct path for their society more in line with its culture.

It’s up to the people of Belize in the end. They should make this decision on the basis of what is right for them, not because of outside pressures that I am sure are strong.

  22. May says:

    Carlos: LGBT

    Lesbian
    Gay
    Bisexual
    Transgendered

  23. May says:

I am not sure why they have a separate category for Lesbian when that should be covered by the term “Gay”.

  24. May says:

One does have to wonder how much of this push for homosexual “rights” is coming from outside sources, namely European and especially those of the United States.

It is well known that the Obama administration is strongly in favor of such “alternative” lifestyles.

One really need to look to other cultures to see where this will lead. In Californian schools there is serious discussion whether boys should be allowed into the girls bathroom if the the boys in question declare themselves “transgendered”. Now that might not be as much a problem in Belize where schools are often separated by gender, but would even that be allowed someday. Perhaps a male would want to go to a female school because he identified as a female (transgendered).

Oh, you say it can’t happen in Belize. Well maybe not as fast as it is happening in other cultures but as someone from another culture let me tell you that’s what we thought.

Look, Belize certainly has a right to determine its own path on this issue either way. I just urge the people of Belize not to let other cultures force you into a situation that is not in the best interest of your unique and beautiful society. It’s your country. Not theirs. Something sometimes especially the United States fail to recognize.

  25. May says:

“A 6-year-old transgender child will be able to return to school after winning the right to use the girls’ bathroom, despite being born a boy.

The New York-based Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund, which filed the complaint on behalf of parents Kathryn and Jeremy Mathis, announced the ruling in favor of Coy Mathis on Sunday. Lawyers plan to explain the ruling Monday.

The group claimed the first-grader was discriminated against by Eagleside Elementary School in Fountain, near Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States after the school allegedly said Coy either had to use the bathroom in the teachers’ lounge or the nurse’s office after winter break.”

Now please understand despite the confusion that the writer might have intentionally placed in the article that we are really talking about a boy. There hasn’t even been any surgery which at age six would even be more disturbing. To put it as delicately as I can the individual has all the stuff that any other boy has except the individual dresses like a girl.

That’s the United States today. Will it be Belize tomorrow? Well that should be up to the people of Belize to decide – one way or the other, without the pressure of organizations like “The New York-based Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund”.

  26. jill says:

well in my opinion a child that age shouldn’t even be tolerated to trying to be a girl a girl is a girl and a boy is a boy it’s written in our DNA you can dress up u can take harmones , u could try pass off a piece of skin as a penis or cut it off and pass it as off as a vagina, your still what god sent you to be.
th is a serious thing, because they would make other feel deprived of their privacy knowing someone of another gender is in the bathroom with you, it could even create ideas in some sick preditor’s head to dress like a woman and go into any females bathroom.. what is this wordl getting too?
well they could try practice that here they the open their own self to get hurt…
