King’s Park Grocery store robbed in One Click

A mid afternoon robbery occurred in the King’s Park Area. Three robbers entered One Click Supermarket at the corner of Hopkins and First Streets and robbed the establishment of an undisclosed amount of money. But the three men then turned their attention to a female patron in the store and jacked her handbag containing a wad of cash, her cell phone and personal documents. The thieves then made good their escape and after emptying the woman’s handbag, disposed of it on Coney Drive. That’s where Alexander Escalante found the victim’s belongings. From there, the story takes a turn.

“Well I work up the road and I was riding pass and when I saw a bag. When I peeped into it, I saw some IDs and so. So I figured it is valuables—social security, driver’s license; everything. So I went to look for the owner and I brought it here.”

 

Duane Moody

“And when you reach here, this is on first street…what did you encounter?”

“Well I noticed police and so…so I notice that a crime scene had happened.”

 

Duane Moody

“What did they tell you happened?”

 

Alexander Escalante

“Well they didn’t say, but I saw police and so and I figured probably a robbery happened and the thief went up that way there.”

 

Duane Moody

“Who did the bag belong to? The person lived here or something?”

 

Alexander Escalante

“Well I’m not sure, but it marked third First Street and so I end up here.”

 

Duane Moody

“What are the police telling you?”

Alexander Escalante

“Well dehn just tell me thanks and so on and that it was a crime scene and I feel good doing an honest thing.”

 

Duane Moody

“What drew your attention to the bag? What kinda bag was it?”

 

Alexander Escalante

“Well it was a lady’s purse and when I saw ID and then deh, I done know fi recover then deh, yo have to spend an amount of money. So I try to save the person that money.”

 

Duane Moody

“It was just right in the middle of the street?”

 

Alexander Escalante

“No on the side. I find ID and so, I find wallet a lot of time. I call the persons and dehn come dah my work for it already and dehn get dehn social and everything back.”

    The police didn’t take fingerprints off the bag, didn’t return to the area where the bag was found, didn’t question anyone where the bag was found, didn’t locate the owner of the found property.

    What are they good for? Nothing
