GSU suppresses marijuana from the streets

Cecil Flowers

The Gang Suppression Unit continues to reduce the supply of marijuana on the streets.  On Thursday evening, the GSU went on an Anti-Drug Operation on Neal’s Pen Road at the home of Cecil Flowers and his wife, Cherrymae.   Police say Cecil handed over three point three grams of cannabis which he had in his possession. In the yard, officers found an additional sixty-five point seven grams of cannabis. So earlier today, sixty year old Cecil, fifty-five year old Cherrymae and thirty-four year old Albert Weller, appeared before Magistrate Leslie Hamilton in Court where they were charged with one count of Drug Trafficking for allegedly having the cannabis in their possession. Cecil was additionally charged with a count of Possession of a Control Drug.

While the trio pleaded not guilty to drug trafficking, Cecil pleaded guilty to the possession of the three point three grams of cannabis. Magistrate Hamilton imposed a non-custodial sentence and fined him three hundred dollars plus five dollars cost of court, which is to be paid by August fifteenth.  While Flowers and his wife were offered bail for the drug trafficking charge, Weller was denied bail because of a pending drug trafficking case and a recent conviction for drug trafficking. All three are due back in court on July twenty-ninth. The Flowers were offered bail in the sum of two thousand dollars each plus one surety of the same amount.
