Mayor cements relationship with Caribbean Shores residents

Darrell Bradley

Mayor Darrell Bradley is going to run against incumbent U.D.P. Area Representative, Santiago ‘Santino’ Castillo, in Caribbean Shores. As far as political news goes, it’s no secret that that is his intention, but as he told us today his move in that area has gone a lot further than just intent. In fact, today Bradley told us that he is now actively campaigning in the area, and his campaign has already picked up momentum so he is not backing down.

Darrell Bradley, Will Contest Caribbean Shores Division

“The position is that I had canvassed the Caribbean Shores area. I have worked in the area for Oscar Ayuso’s campaign; I had worked for Carlos Perdomo’s campaign. Members of the committee had asked me to run in that area and I had indicated to them that I was thinking about it and thinking about it rather seriously. It had been reported in the area that I had actually done some work in the area and we are presently campaigning in the area. And we are presently campaigning in the area. And I had thought it then prudent for us to confirm that was what we were going to do. I intend to win in that area. Of course you have to run for a convention first and then if you are successful then you should want for the general elections. That is something that I have confirmed. So you’ve actively started complaining. We are in the process of putting together of committee and a campaign strategy. We are identifying certain areas of interests that we want to do in terms of certain projects in a campaign side in the Caribbean Shores area. We are in the process of creating of interests that we would want to do in terms of certain projects from a campaign side in the area. We have been networking with various supporters of the U.D.P. just to identify certain strategic plans in terms of a campaign strategy. So it is an active campaign. I had discussed in the national assembly including the secretariat to indicate to them my intention; why was I doing it and the plans that I had for the area. I did encounter some resistance; I did encounter some persons who were trying to dissuade me. But I indicated to them the reason why I wanted to do it and we’ve developed a momentum.”

Prime Minister Dean Barrow has stated on national television that Santino Castillo had been, to use his words, missing in action in the division, but that he is now back on the stomp.

It will be fun to watch.

I’m for an independent or minor party — we need to start getting away from the Red and Blue TODAY.

Belize needs change, but you can’t get change voting for the same old parties — they have become institutionally corrupt, and they are the major problem the nation faces.

Albert Einstein said the definition of insanity is repeating the same thing, and expecting a different result. I’m not insane, so I’m going to try something new.
