1 man hospitalized following shooting in San Pedro

San Pedro was the scene of much excitement this Easter weekend, and not exactly the good kind. One shooting incident Easter Sunday night has left a San Pedro resident recovering at the K.H.M.H. while the man who shot him is detained pending charges. Reports are that the incident occurred at the popular Holiday Hotel located on Barrier Reef Drive on Sunday night at about eight. Witnesses claim that twenty-nine year old Allen Ajay Martinez was socializing with friends on the deck of the hotel when he bumped into forty year old Reynaldo Verde and an altercation ensued. That allegedly led to Verde pulling his licensed nine millimeter Luger pistol and shooting Martinez in the left hip. Police say they visited the San Pedro Polyclinic where they saw Martinez being treated for his wound. During their preliminary investigation they found the expended slug on the scene, and the pistol with a magazine containing seven live rounds in Verde’s hotel room. Martinez was transported to the K.H.M.H. where he is currently listed in a stable condition. For Reynaldo Verde, a senior employee of the Sales Tax Department, this is déjà vu. In November 2004 Verde was arrested and charged for attempted murder, aggravated assault, use of deadly means of harm and discharging a firearm in public. In that incident in MJs Nightclub on Newtown Barracks, Verde got into an altercation with Jose Nunez, and pulled out his licensed weapon and shot Nunez in the left arm.
