Unexpected swim; partygoers plunged into sea as wooden deck collapses

And while that incident resulted in bloodshed, a group of about forty-five partygoers in San Pedro were treated to an unexpected swim when a wooden deck collapsed under their weight and plunged into the sea. The incident occurred at the Tackle Box Bar and Grill at around one thirty Sunday morning when reports are that there were close to five hundred persons inside the establishment. The outer wooden deck collapsed, causing no serious injuries but quite a scare and inconvenience as the forty-five persons who went into the water had cash, cell phones, cameras and jewelry with them. Police responded and closed the Bar and Grill for the night, while some of those who were on the deck when it collapsed sought medical assistance for minor injuries received in the fall. And while the incident doesn’t rate as a tragedy, San Pedro Police told the media that it does highlight the importance of establishments renovating, inspecting and maintaining their properties regularly, especially when large crowds are expected to patronize them.
