Suspension in sight? P.U.P. gives U.D.P. an F for midterm

Francis Fonseca

The Government presented its budget for fiscal year 2013-2014 last Friday and debate takes place next week. Prime Minister Dean Barrow stated that the economy grew by five point three percent in 2012, and it will continue at a modest pace of three percent this financial year. According to the P.M. there will also be no budget cuts and no new taxes. But Opposition Leader, Francis Fonseca, says that preliminary analysis indicates that it is just another empty budget.

Francis Fonseca, Leader of the Opposition

“The budget really is that of empty rhetoric and it is a budget which reflects very clearly that we have a prime minister who lives in one world. We have a U.D.P. government and Mister Barrow living in Barrow land. They are living in their own world and out here in the real streets, on the streets and in the village communities and in our homes, people have a very different reality. So that is what the budget is about. It is about a U.D.P. government living in their own world and about the real world out here. There is no plan in the budget to deal with growing the economy in a very serious way; there is no plan in the budget to tackle the very serious problems we are having in the health sector; there is no plan in the budget to deal with crime. In the budget presentation of the prime minister of this country and we have to hold him responsible. He spent I think it was ninety seconds—one minute and thirty seconds—talking about crime when that represents perhaps the greatest challenge to Belize’s development as a country today as we sit here. No plan to deal with this very serious crisis that we are facing and that is reflected at every step of the budget.”

The budget is scheduled for debate on March twenty-first and twenty-second.

The PUPs are too tame in dealing with the illegal activities of this UDP political regime. The PUPs seem not to want to engage the UDPs in a head -on -collision on the precepts of changes in our laws and institutions being carried out by said UDPs. For instance Barrow singlehandedly, has twisted, inverted, manipulated, undermined, distorted, and spurned Belize law to justify and steal resources like Oil leases, BTL, and BEL to benefit himself, his families, and his political cronies. The only thing the PUPs have right is that the feckless Barrow invents his own reality. Now a message to silly Jules: are you going to question Barrow how he arrived at 5.3% increase in GDP while all other economic indicators are still heading south; or are you just plain stupid to not see the obvious just like no one can see that the Mennonites are using their segregated communities and the cover of agriculture to grow and harvest drugs . So mote it be!!

Mr Fonseca, what do you expect will Barrow do “DIRECTLY” about crime? Mr Fonseca, why are you not a street criminal? I know why, because you dont have that mentality, and you probably teach your kids differently. However not all parents are that way..The headlines we see today are the fruits of what was sowed yesterday..There is not “magic” solution to crime..However, the Prime Minister is doing a positive thing..Encouraging the Tourism Sector to grow, matter of fact it has, and what is the result? People get jobs, THAT IS WHAT KEEPS THEM OFF THE STREET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
