Entire Meighan family behind bars

Ellis Meighan

The entire Meighan family is tonight behind bars after a mother, daughter and her two sons were remanded on a charge of keeping unlicensed ammunition. They now join another son, Tyrone Meighan, who is currently on remand for a charge of murder. Early today, the GSU conducted a surprise raid on the family home on Banak Street. During the search they allegedly found two nine millimeter cartridges inside a barrel. The mother, Shelly Meighan, along with her daughter, Shanique Meighan, son Ellis Meighan Junior and a minor were arrested and appeared this afternoon before Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer. They pleaded not guilty to the charge of Keeping Unlicensed Ammunition, but were informed by the Magistrate that she could not offer them bail because of the nature of the offense.

They were all remanded until April seventeenth.  Ellis Meighan Junior is no stranger to the Police; before he was remanded today, was out on Supreme Court bail for a similar offense.  This afternoon as they were being escorted to Magistrate’s Court, Ellis Meighan Junior and his brother could be heard issuing threats against the media assembled outside.

The family unit is so broken down. Where have we lost our values. I was raised by my grandmother a single woman and she put down rules and we had to live by them and if we did not we paid the price. We did not have any excuse about being raised in a single parent home. Where have we gone wrong. Immorality has ruined a beautiful country and a wonderful people. Our children are being robbed of life. I pray for things to change for the better.

Locking up the Meighan family is a good start. Now go lock up some more gangster families, so the good people of Belize can walk the streets in peace and safety.

This is long over due. Everybody know that this family holds ammunition and drugs for Ghost Town. The GSU knows this long time but for some reason choose to hold back from arresting these ppl. Ms. Shelly’s kids have killed so many ppl and have literally walk free after being going to trial because the witnesses never show up due to threats being made on their lives. The GSU should remand them until May and throw away the key for this family. They are a major point in the corruption of Ghost Town and the Lakeview area. We all know that, but no one is dearing enough to go to the police and tell the truth because the police does not have the back of the innocent. So even if we want to tell, we will be thrown under the bus for being a good citizen of the neighborhood. I hope the judge does not go easy on them I hope the judge makes a good judgement and send them all to jail because I know that Ellis will take the rap so that his sister and mom does not go to jail. Since Channel 5 News have this section for viewers to comment, it should take our comments seriously and not just post them but relay them to the investigation unit. There’s ppl that make comments on these new postings that literally know what they are saying but cannot come forth due to their lives being threaten if they do. This is a good start in cracking down the monsterous issues that are going on in Ghost Town.

I believe that the family has been picked on for things that they dd not do. Yes, I believe that some of the things were done. However, every time something happens its the Meighan family getting blamed.

  5. Seletar says:

The police have a recording of the whole family talking while the police searched, and worrying about if the police are going to find the bullets — which they eventually did. It’s hilarious, and all the evidence needed to prove that every one of this nest of vipers was personally involved in hiding illegal ammunition.

So there is no honest way this case can end except with convictions, and prison for all of them. But will it end honestly?

Great job, GSU, especially being careful to record what the criminals were saying between themselves!

I believe the police dropped the bullets in the barrel while picking up the white curtains out of the barrel. On channel 7 news, you can clearly hear the bullets being dropped while the officer picks up the curtains. I do believe they intentionally planted those bullets. I agree with Living abroad, they the Meighans are blamed for things, even if they are innocent.
