Regular soap eating kills

MIlka Sho

There is a tragic story to report tonight. It involves the mysterious death of a seventeen-year-old from the village of Golden Stream in Toledo over the weekend and is raising numerous questions among residents of that southern community.  Milka Sho, a mentally challenged teenager, died on Sunday after allegedly ingesting soap or washing powder.  Upon their discovery, the family of the young lady immediately contacted Alcalde Alfonso Cal, who transported the body to the Punta Gorda Town Hospital. There, according to Cal, a police officer questioned the parents where it was revealed that Milka had a history of eating the cleaning agent. Consuming soap is a rare medical disorder known as PICA which is characterized by an appetite for substances that are largely non-nutritive. Cal told News Five earlier today that the family, during the inquiry, informed the officer, that on prior occasions, the teenager refused to take a bath unless she was given an unused bar of soap. They would later come to find out that she was instead consuming the cleanser. While an autopsy on the body was, for whatever reason, not conducted it is believed that she may have died as a result of her toxic urge. News Five also spoke with Inspector Ernel Dominquez, Officer Commanding Punta Gorda Police Formation, who said that he has not received a copy of a police report on the matter. Sho was buried on Tuesday.

I thought an autopsy was required in these situations. Did someone violate the law by burying her without one?

Other than that, if what is reported is true, it’s a sad story, and maybe a lesson to pass on to parents everywhere.

  2. clarify says:

An autopsy is only required if the person who died doesn’t have a medical history that can explain cause of death.
