Los Pelones, Sinaloa Cartel and 2 Belizeans in Mexico

Tonight there is little more detail coming out of Mexico City regarding the arrest on Thursday evening of eight persons in Chetumal. Those persons, six males and two females, were found at the house of a man Mexican authorities claim is the head of Los Pelones, a brutal enforcement gang linked to the Sinaloa Cartel. While most of the persons locked up tonight are strangers to Belizeans, two of them are extremely well known – Melin Vasquez and Hugo Casanova. Vasquez is from Orange Walk Town and Casanova is from Carolina in the Corozal District. News Five has an update on that ongoing story.

Mike Rudon, Reporting

Melin Vasquez and Hugo Casanova are tonight in secure detention at the Social Rehabilitation Center in Mexico City.

They have been in the center of the news since Thursday, when they were found in Chetumal in the home of a known drug lord nicknamed the Monster during a raid by a joint military and federal taskforce in Chetumal. Also found during the raid were forty-five kilos of crystal meth already packaged for distribution and worth approximately one million U.S.

Reports from Mexico City are that on Sunday all eight persons were charged in the Sixth District Court for drug possession for purposes of sale. They pleaded not guilty and denied knowledge of the drugs claiming they were illegally detained.

Mexican authorities believe that the crystal meth was taken into Mexico from Belize by Melin Vasquez and Hugo Casanova. The raid was allegedly the result of weeks of surveillance following a tip from an informant that a major drug sale was about to go down.

There is no word from the families of either Vasquez or Casanova tonight as they wait for the order of the Court. Mike Rudon for News Five.

As we told you on Monday night, Vasquez has been in drug-trafficking related trouble with the law before. In 1996, he was arrested after the discovery of a drug plane carrying three hundred and eighty-six kilos of cocaine. He escaped conviction amid a corruption scandal, when the case files went up in smoke in a mysterious vehicle fire. At the time, Vasquez’s father in law was the Minister of Home Affairs, Elito Urbina.

Drug dealers are the lowest form of criminal, because they deal in poison and sell it to anyone, even your children. I’d give death to them all if I were king, but life in a Mexican prison will be a close second. But it will be nothing compared to their final Judgment, when they will burn in hell for eternity. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

    Who’s next?

  2. NIRO says:

THANK GOD THOSE DRUG LORD WERE CAUGHT IN MEXICO. HOPEFULLY THEY WILL SERVE THEIR TIME, AND NOT BUY THR LAW. IF THEY WERE CAUGHT HERE THEY WOULD COME OUT FREE BECAUSE DICKEY AND ARTHUR WOULD RUN FOR THEIR RESCUE!!!!

  3. Just saying says:

Niro, your memory is short. Do you remember which lawyers used to represent the drug lords in the 1990s? Does the surname Barrow ring a bell or jug your memory?

remember payo from orange walk he disappeared in chetumal i wonder why and if they took them to mexico city i bet when they come to belize they are not going to have any ….. lol they don’t now what their in for good luck my friend.

  5. not again says:

They took them to Mexico city because Chetumal was like their home Belize. Lots of uniform oficers were paid. I dont know if they will survive in jail because the other cartels are waiting. Every news paper says they are from the pelones. Apart from that a lot of money was last. And you know how you pay when this happens.

there is no way these guys will make it to trial i’m almost certain, if there is one thing the cartels don’t allow are trials…and being they are only low members they are dispensable, good luck to them but if I were their family i’d be worried
