Cayo cab driver comatose after beaten

Pedro Ch’oc

A taxi operator from San Ignacio is tonight in a coma at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after he was hit on the head with a piece of wood on Saturday morning. Sometime around three a.m., forty-two year old Pedro Ch’oc was carrying a fare when it is alleged that he was attacked by his passengers. He lost control of his vehicle and crashed in a ditch. Ch’oc was rushed to the San Ignacio Hospital where he received several stitches for a gash to the head. He was released later that day, but by Sunday, he complained of pains and slipped into a coma. Ch’oc was rushed to the K.H.M.H. where he is currently fighting for his life. News Five spoke off camera today to his wife, Elena Ch’oc, who says that she believes that the incident was an attempted robbery.

  1. Storm says:

Sounds like attempted murder to me. Let the attackers die in prison so we will all be a little safer.

Question: didn’t the doctors make an effective scan of his head to see if there was a fracture or internal bleeding? Apparently he should have been kept for observation in the hospital, not released to go home.

Anyway, I’ll pray for his full recovery. We don’t need to lose another Belizean life so needlessly.
