Tush given 2 years for attacking a jogger
In the Magistrate Court this morning, a Belize City man went on trial for attacking an evening jogger who was exercising on the Phillip Goldson Highway in July of 2012. Thirty-eight year old William Tush appeared for charges of Aggravated Assault and Wounding upon forty-seven year old Desiree Adolphus. At the start of the trial this morning, Tush had a change of heart and pleaded guilty to the offences. When the incident happened, Adolphus bravely fought back Tush who placed a knife to her neck and dragged her to the side of a building in the area of Gonzalo Quinto and Son’s Limited and Matus Brothers. Adolphus struggled with Tush grabbing the knife and ended up with a cut to her thumb. But she was able to free herself and flagged down a car whose driver assisted her in calling the police. Tush was soon picked up and identified as her attacker. Adolphus told the court that her sense of safety was taken away and while she has been recovering from that ordeal, she knows that Tush must be punished. He asked Magistrate Sharon Frazer to impose a fine, but the Magistrate handed down a custodial sentence since the offense of aggravated assault and wounding carry jail terms as penalties. With that, she sentenced Tush to two years for wounding and one year for aggravated assault. The sentences are to run concurrently to each other hence Tush will only serve two years effective today.
Well done Ms Adolphus. now jail the B**t**d!
Good judgment by the judge! The victim would have ended up raped, if not murdered, I’m sure. The convict deserved prison.
