Flat tire gets contrabandistas busted

While our news team was returning from an assignment in San Narciso, they captured a scene that had the appearance of an accident. A pick-up truck with a blown rear right tire was being towed. But the people towing the vehicle were from the Customs Department. Apparently, they caught someone traveling from the San Victor Road with contraband goods. According to sources, the contrabandista attempted to escape and the maneuver resulted in a flat tire. At least two of them escaped into the nearby cane field. A police patrol from Corozal Town arrived on the scene shortly after and went in pursuit of the suspects. The items in the vehicle included onions, cabbage, and apples.

Cabbage, onions and apples are illegal now? damn…jus because its not grown here?? if these items werent so expensive here in Belize people wouldnt have to resort to bringing these things from across the border…contraband is very common in that part of the country anyone can tell u that…and let me guess…the government will destroy every bit of it rather than to give it to sum very poor and needy deserving family in Belize or better yet those same custom officers will each take home a pound or two to their families…either way the customs and government always find a way to screw over the people…see what they did to the precious rosewood?? they burnt it rather than donate it to the poor who cant afford to build a house…they rather jus stand by and watch the guates rape our forest on a daily basis and make millions while we Belizeans cant touch one of those rosewood trees…life is very unfair…where is our modern day robinhood??

    Sad to hear these things,
I know the mexican side is a lil cheaper but you run the risk that these customs take away everything from you.
They are happy because they will take it home and enjoy everything that you work to buy.
Dont feed the customs and the BDF no more. Think invest in Belize.

  4. Eye in the Sky says:

Have you ever been in a customs agents home. I have.
You will find the refrigerator stocked with Guatemalan & Mexican soft drinks, beer, hams, cheese, meats, canned goods and so on. Their fridge are well stocked and the customs agents have big guts.
Very unfair to the hard working Belizean working for $3.30 an hour.
