Defendant walks as victim, 8 witnesses decline to testify

A former prisoner accused of attempted murder was set free today because the victim and eight other witnesses refused to testify against him. According to court reports, in June 2004, twenty-three year old Jeffrey Flowers was accused of stabbing another inmate, Dennis Hyde, with the metal handle of a bucket that had been fashioned into a deadly weapon. Flowers was subsequently arrested and charged with Attempted Murder, Dangerous Harm, and Use of Deadly Means of Harm. But in court today, Prosecutor Kamar Henry was forced to offer no evidence in the case because Hyde had made it clear he wanted no court action. In addition, the eight other prisoners in the cell at the time of the incident are also claiming that they didn’t see anything. With that, Justice Troadio Gonzalez ordered the jury to find Flowers not guilty. His legal woes aren’t over just yet however as we understand that Flowers remains on remand for an unrelated murder charge.
