Belize wins against Nicaragua Copa Centro Americana

Copa Centro Americana has been an experience for National Selection A Team as the competition has been anything but easy. In the first game versus Costa Rica, team Belize lost, in a one to zero game. The second game against Guatemala ended in a draw making the third game to be played against Nicaragua a much anticipated match. That game got off at four o’cloclk today and all eyes were glued to the television screen as Belize went into the Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica. The match against Nicaragua got off to a slow start with both teams defenses on high. Twenty-eight minutes into the game, Forward, Trevor Lennon of team Belize scored the first and what would be considered a clean and direct goal putting Belize in the lead ending the first half. In the second half there were missed opportunities on both sides but still yet Nicaragua managed to register its first goal for the game. In less than two minutes remaining, Deon McCauley, pulled out his A game and scored the second and winning goal adding to his reputation as the striker with the most international goals scored. Here are highlights of those exciting moments in today’s game.

  13. ceo says:

There is lots of tallented and skilled youths in Belize that is undeveloped or never gets the chance to develop. The only thing that stands between the people with the tallent / skill and success is the leadership of the country.

It is sad to think that there is unborn hope that already died! Why is there no stadium to host international games in Belize? Why is there hardly any funding or incouragement of the arts on a national level. Why is there no real input by the government into athletic development. This is one dimention of fighting crime.

  14. Dorian says:

Too bad some of the ones who spew racist filth at the crime stories don’t bother to comment on ones like this. Y’all know who you are.

When kids rob and steal in San Pedro or cuss at Police on George Street…dem black. When they bring the glory…ahh, dem Belizean.

  15. Bear says:

@CEO, I agree that the youth of Belize deserves much better sports facilities, and I think sports are important as a very positive influence on the entire nation. I believe there should be a private non-profit organization to work on that subject, to keep it out of the political control of the parties and away from the chronic budget problems of the government.

Like-minded citizens should study how sports facilities are financed in the capitalist countries. Maybe we should consult with someone like Mitt Romney of the USA who organized a profitable, but all-private, Winter Olympics in 2002.

  16. Belizean Pride says:

that’s why am a Belizean 2 di bone proud of my Belizean team

  17. del benque says:

  18. salvyforever says:

Hi Belize, I’m from El Salvador and I just wanted to tell you, that I’m impressed with your performance in Copa Centroamericana. There is no doubt your football is growing, keep going, we will meet at Gold Cup. Congratulations.

  19. Kinkriol says:

A win is a win is a win, dreams, hard work, determination and sound leadership paid off, proud of our guys.
Realistically speaking Nicaragua dominated for 80% possession of the game, our strengths are endurance, vertical jumping, speed and outstanding defense. Excellent goal keeping; except for the winning goal our keeper has no offense, every ball he kicks out come right back 95% of the time. I’m sure the coach see’s that and if he’s ok with it; then I’m ok with it, he knows best.
As we are a growing nation we can only get better.
