Not Cool! AC technician jailed for robbery

Nuri Dario Polanco

A shooting took place just adjacent to our headquarters on Coney Drive after a nearby store was robbed last Friday evening. Quick police action led to the arrest of twenty–five year old Nuri Dario Polanco, an air condition technician of Belize City. Polanco was today arraigned in the court of Magistrate Hettie Mae-Stuart and charged for one count of robbery and one count of aggravated assault upon a family member of the store owner who was present during the robbery. Polanco pleaded not guilty to both charges, was denied bail and remanded to the Belize Central prison until February, twenty-eight 2013. Two men entered the grocery store situated at the corner of Marlin Boulevard and Coral Grove and robbed the store owners of an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene. An alert citizen in the area fired several shots at the robbers with his license firearm but no one was injured and police was able to apprehend Polanco in an empty lot behind our offices. The second suspect has not been detained.

  1. Storm says:

Thanks to the alert citizen who took shots at the robbers, and to the police for snapping one up. 25 years in prison seems about right to me.
