Marco Vidal’s heavy portfolios of GSU and Special Branch

Marco Vidal

A new commissioner of police has been named; he is former CEO for National Security Allen Wylie. It is critical time for the police with crime and street violence proving to be a major challenge and the gangs running amok now that the gang truce program has ended and funding has declined. The appointment of Whylie, who has also served as assistant commissioner of police, was among a number of changes announced in a major shake-up in the hierarchy of the police force. Whylie assumes command later this month as acting commissioner; he takes over from David Henderson who is heading to National Forensics.  Elodio Aragon Junior will be moving up as Assistant Commissioner with additional responsibilities for operations. One of the other notable changes is at Special Branch, where the desk is being cleared up to make way for Marco Vidal.  Vidal’s detractors had long predicted his transfer or demise because the GSU has come under fire for use of excessive force. On Thursday, no replacement for Vidal was announced but we can now report that Vidal has moved up considerably, because while he assumes Special Branch, he will also stay on as head of the Gang Suppression Unit.

The man should remain as head of GSU, they are doing a wonderful job, Mr. Vidal has good leadership qualities and I believe he can manage both portfolios very well.

Mr. Vidal is one of the very few top cops that actually gets things done. To him I say congratulations sir and may you continue the good work.

Also can we look at meeting domestic terrorists who attack innocents with deadly force in the same manner president Obama authorized the raid on Osama? Terrorism is terrorism, we need to start handing them like the terrorists they are.

i applaud this move. GSU has been an effective tool against the worst of the worst criminals, now with Vidal’s promotion it could expand. I hope so.

I also think that the police should recruit and train volunteer posses to back up the regular police and expand their patrols. I just heard on international news a story about a program like that being very effective in Arizona, where Sheriff Arpaio has a posse of 3,000 trained volunteers to call on when needed.

National Resolution for 2013:More police, more training, more force on the gangsters until they are crushed, captured, or dead.

Well known UDP cronies, Aragon and Vidal, are going up, let us see how more nasty it will get this year….

  6. Ixchel Pop says:

Vidal gets it as it relates to the street thugs and ensuring that the state response is much more forceful and decisive than the gang members. He has done an extremely good job and almost all law abiding citizens are behind him. I hope that he expands this response to the larger police force and do what needs to be done. This is the best move that the Barrow Administration has been able to do so far. I think what this does to our collective psyche is that we know that there is a man in the force that is bigger and stronger than the gangs which grips us in fear an make us feel powerless. Knowing that allows us to have the hope that eventually the streets will be won over again. All the best to Vidal.

  7. Real Norteno says:

As usual idiots love push politics into everything when they are not satisfied with the government. Northernconcern will u please take two running jumps and go straight to hell??? The object is to target crime not cajole and protect them by espousing political bs. If you are not satisfied with the police performance may I suggest you site valid examples instead of hiding your politically motivated statements?
