Peace Walk for St. Martin De Porres on Saturday

Deon Flowers

Belize City Resident Deon Flowers is well known in the St. Martin De Porres neighborhood.  He regularly hosts football camps for the neighborhood kids in an effort to keep the occupied, involved in positive activities and far from influences that would lead them astray. Flowers has decided to organize a peace march on Saturday at nine a.m. When News Five spoke to him this afternoon, he said everyone is invited to the walk as it is intended to foster community spirit.

“Now we know you for your different summer camps for football. How more important is it to you to do this peace walk knowing now that the Lake I area; most of it have been designated as crime ridden areas where you will soon see police and B.D.F.?”

Deon Flowers

“Well this thing weh I di try do like sports and so, well mostly business people I need lot of help. Right now I need lotta help. Mostly business people; you get support from some of them, but majority business people come and help out, you could do better. Why this thing yah di happen, we lack sports, we lack people deh around because when people noh got nothing fi do, dehn goh heng out pan the street. Right now, we have a problem with the lights and thing. When night come, the pickney dehn can’t see and they can’t finish dehn basketball or football; so dehn go right pan the street and heng out and do idleness.  Once dehn noh got nothing fi do of course they wah do that; that’s why we have to try fi have something to do every day.”

So if you have time, join the peace walk this Saturday.
