Another Baptist Pastor accused of sexually molesting minors

Julio Cesar Garcia

There may be more than one victim in a sexual abuse case in Franks Eddy in the Cayo District. The details began to unravel on Monday when an eleven year old reported that on two occasions, the pastor of the Baptist Church in the village had abused her. The physical contact occurred in the church and also at his residence. This morning, Julio Cesar Garcia, the Honduran pastor who has been in the village for merely three months, was charged with two counts of unlawful carnal knowledge. After the case was broadcast on Tuesday, two other young school girls are alleging that Garcia acted inappropriately towards them. Duane Moody went in the void of Franks Eddy where he spoke to the mother of the alleged victim and also the pastor’s wife.

Another Baptist Pastor, forty-six year old Julio Cesar Garcia has been remanded to the Hattieville prison after he was charged with two counts of unlawful carnal knowledge against an eleven year old student of the Frank’s Eddy Government School.  The villagers who attend the church are up in arms as the man they trusted allegedly sexually abused one girl and acted inappropriately with two others.

Voice of: Mother of Victim

“Monday in the morning, she told me that this is happening. Immediately as she told me, I questioned her and I asked her how much time that this man has touched her and she said four times. So I hurry went to the hospital and took her. The station then took me to the station and they checked my daughter and they show that she was abused.”

Duane Moody

“As in sexual intercourse with this man?”

Voice of: Mother of Victim

“Yes.”

“My daughter used to go there because I was the treasurer for the church and he would need money to buy gasoline or something like that and I was at work. Right there, he took advantage of my little daughter and I didn’t notice this.”

Duane Moody

“What is your daughter saying that he did?”

Voice of: Mother of Victim

“My daughter is saying that when he went to give the money to this man, he grabbed her, took her hand, push her on the bed; closed the door, windows and everything and hold her two hands and took off her clothes and do what he was going to do with her.”

As many as four times says the mother, one as recent as last Thursday; that her eleven year old daughter was allegedly sexually assaulted by the pastor.  But at least two other parents have come forward saying that their nine year old daughters told them that Garcia had kissed them.

Voice of: Mother Who Claims Daughter was Abused

“The abused weh she get; weh mi daughter tell me; one time when I gone clean the church, I come off from the church and I gone talk to the wife. And the pastor man ih say mi hail ahn inside because ih mi wah show ahn how to play the instruments and ih say when ih deh inside that he hug ahn and kiss ih mouth; this happen like three times.”

Voice of: Mother of Victim

“His wife saying that she knew that this was going to happen. And I asked her why she didn’t tell anybody; because we coulda stop this before this happen. We can’t believe that she didn’t say anything to us too.”

But Garcia’s wife, Nohemi Escalon, claimed ignorance when the media asked her about the allegations against her husband. Escalon said she didn’t know why her husband was detained.

“I don’t know because I was not at court; I did not go to court so I don’t know what he was charged for. Yes he is detained but I don’t know for what as yet. They are saying that he has sexual intercourse with some young girls, but for me it is strange because I didn’t know. All I know is that the police came and took him, but I don’t know. I have not talked with the police; with nobody. I went today in the morning to see if I can give him breakfast, but I did not get to see him.”

The incident has shocked residents of the close-knit village who attend the church.

Julie Seguro, Resident, Frank’s Eddy Village

“It was really shocking because we had such confidence; such trust in the pastor that we couldn’t believe it; we honestly just couldn’t. I’ve been hearing that parents knew little tips that had happened before because apparently to what I’ve been hearing, he had kissed several little girls on their mouth before. And they should have spoken out so that everyone could have heard and maybe this wouldn’t have happened.”

Eldon Eldon, Resident, Frank’s Eddy Village

“I have two daughter and stuff like this I cannot support any at all and I noh see how the pastor lady doesn’t know what was going on in the house over there; that’s a lie. She must have known something.”

Voice of: Mother of Victim

“We trusted him because he was a pastor. We believed that he is doing something good; we didn’t think that something like this was going to happen and worse to my child because my daughter is a little girl very innocent and respect people.”

According to Vitalino Reyes of Cavetubing.bz located in the village, he has been living in Frank’s Eddy since 1998 and that there has been a lot of crimes happening in the village. He says that a police substation is needed.

“A lot of people come in here—from El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala and Belizeans also here—they come for good and some will come for bad. They come and do damages here; bring guns, do a lot of things here. I report to the police every time, but police will never come because they say they don’t have any means for transportation, they don’t have gas; they always have an excuse not to come. We try to ask for a substation here either in Frank’s Eddy or St. Matthew and I am not sure they are working on it but it doesn’t look like that.”

Here’s a problem with GOB ignoring our own border. Did this man come to the Jewel because he had legal trouble back home? Did ANYBODY check on his record or references before letting him live here for 14 years and take over a church? No wonder we’ve become known around the world as a “safe haven” for fugitives, whether from right next door, or the States, or Lebanon, Slovakia, or anywhere else.

If our government can’t do better than this, maybe we have already ceased to be a functioning nation.

  2. Ixchel Pop says:

The Belizean Church has a lot to attend to the least of it being addressing consensual sexual between adults of the same sex. The godly pastors wade and strim have so much to say about UNIBAM when in fact they have a colossal issue of pastors raping our young girls…perhaps it is ok…all they need is to confess their sins and all will be well. Mabey it can be swept under the carpet.
We talk about Belize going down the wrong way..How about clean the church first. I hope he rots in jail and is metted out the same punishment that he did to our little 11 year old chile.

  3. Rod says:

Hang him hang him high from the church.

  4. Namewitheld says:

The Baptist Association (Baptist @$$-hole-situation/association) won’t say anything about it because they are doing like all the other churches one of their Pastor rapes molest minors and they send them to another country…Have anyone seen Pastor Willacy maybe they sent him to Jamaica or some other Caribbean country to molest and rape innocent children. They are the real wolves in sheep clothing!!!
The wife knew because this is the first time she had to leave her home and family to follow her man the churches will continue to move their perverts and pedophile around… all the church cares about is the money$$$$$$$.. those sets of gangsters once the money/collection is good the pastor will be sent somewhere else where he can continue to bring in the collections!!!!

Another sad story of assault on the innocence of our children. Once again the very place where people should be able to go and get away from the problems of the world is the place that has failed them, now God will get another black eye. I tell you there is an evil that has settled over the country, it will take honest prayer to fix this spiritual assault.

  6. Rod says:

Thank God I dont go to church, for this kind of people.

  7. Uncle Benji says:

Is it the water or is it the hypocrisy of religion and all the Jesus freaks? I don’t know. But belize, we have a problem.

Belizeans we clutch onto religion like there is no tomorrow. We tend to idolize religious people, and that is where our problem lies. We bend over for these bible thumping freaks, and they show their gratitude by raping our women and our kids.

Let’s get off this religious band wagon and expose these people. Over the decades more Belizean kids have been raped by Jesus freaks than any other institution including the jail system. A crying shame!

  8. Elgin Martinez says:

This Baptist predator looks real caliente and creepy.

  9. Lucas says:

I am pissed. Me bex madly. Let this ……… loose on George Street in the middle of the night or, have him set residence in the midst of the badest criminals at Kolbe.

  10. rubs says:

oh GOODNESS, WHERE THE !@#$ IS THE GOB…. I’M GLAD THAT THE PREDATOR IS IN PRISON. THEY SHOULD RAPE HIM IN THERE SO THAT HE CAN FEEL WHAT HE HAS DONE TO INNOCENT CHILDS. ANYWAY, WHY THE GIRL WAITED FOR THE 3RD OR 4TH SEXUAL INTERCOURCE TO REPORT TO POLICE. IT SEEMS THAT SHE LIKES IT BECAUSE FOR THE FIRST TIME I WOULD REPORT IT. COME ON…. THIS GIRLS IN THIS 20th CENTURY ARE SOOOO HOT & LOOK AT THEM HOW THEY DRESS UP. ALMOST ALL THEIRS BOOBS ETC R SHOWING.

  11. rubs says:

WHY ACCEPT PASTORS FROM NO WHERE, BZE HAVE GOOD PASTORS.. SO WHY AN IMMIGRANT WIL COME & BE A PASTOR IN BZE. THOSE CREEPS JUST COME TO BZE TO POCKET POOR PEOPLE MONEY & GOB DOESNT CARE A DAMN $#!% WHAT HAPPENS IN BZE.

  12. Truth says:

Have them drink some canal water and hand them over to the gangs and let them do away with him..

    this is ENOUGH

  13. 2cents says:

This has nothing to do with UNIBAM. Why is the chuch being bash, everyone has a part to play. Stop the name calling and look at what you are doing to help prevent this issue. Its happening right in our own homes our families and we play deaf and blind. So dont bring UNIBAM in this. This is about justice and send that Pastor to Jail. Send out a notice that we will not have not church leaders, or politician get away with this. My 2 cents

  14. issues says:

The police should shot him accidentally 6 times trying to escape.

  15. OriginalWoman says:

@ rubs, Are you serious??? So, the eleven year old girl was dressed provocative??? Yes, some femlaes do dress sexy. But most of the styles for females today are sexy. Does that give men the right to rape females??? I bet you have many females in your own family that dress sexy. How many have you raped, or thought about raping?? And most males have their pants falling of their @$$es, does that mean other males should take it as a signal of them wanting homo sex and rape them too??? You sound so INSENSITIVE and IGNORANT!!!!!!

  16. NY says:

@ uncle benji, I thought that you was part of the Jesus freaks movement, because only the Jesus freaks voted for mitt, who you predicted was going to win the U.S presidency. On that note, this guy, if proven guilty, needs to punished severely for abusing his power.

  17. Belize Man says:

Belize has a very serious problem. Immigrants are pouring in our country, some are good and some are very bad. Most of them come here in desperation. They have depleted their resources in their land, so they come to Belize to rape our resources, our women, our children. The Government quickly issue out lots and land for them, they sell it expensive and knowing they will get more. I am 35 yrs old Belizean and up to date I own not even an inch of my motherland…Very sad… Fugitives come in, in desperation, profess to be spiritual leaders and we Belizeans (having no good leaders) quickly pour behind them – then they turn around and continue their lawlessness. Investigate all immigrant pastors, I know there are more evil ones, root them out!! I am very ANGRY…Put this pedophile among dem bad !@$$ da jail… Death by UNGAMUNGA!!!!

  18. Anti-Religion says:

Organized religion is a fraudulent industry that attracts con artists and paedophiles from everywhere. There are many churches in Belize, many of them taking advantage of people’s fears and weaknesses. And while some try to do good, most of them spend way too much time in their church buildings trying to sooth their own souls with songs, prayers and Bible talk. Those who call themselves Christians need to recognize that being Christian is not about sitting in church singing and praying. It’s about loving people, taking care of (not taking advantage of) orphans and windows in their distress. Children who have bad parents are worse off than children who have none. We need to take care of them too. A man who hides behind the Bible and sexually abuses a child is better off if a millstone was tied to his neck and he was lying at the bottom of the sea. Our country would be so much better off if those who call themselves Christians actually followed the teacher’s teachings.

  19. Maya says:

pple need to stay home and pray you don’t need to go to church to pray. Keep your kids home and your money in your pocket. 2 things they want rape your kids and tek weh you money. Don’t bring GOB in this coz they giving away beautiful BZ. If it has anything about protecting our land and children and our future GOB seh to hell wid it!!!!

  22. Timmy says:

It’s like I always say….If you have a daughter send her to Catholic Church…The priests prefer boys. If you have a son, send him to Baptist…those preachers prefer young girls!

I don’t mean to offend anyone who attends these churches, but watch the news…you will end up agreeing with me!
