After a red carpet of glamour and glitz, the grand finale of the Next Superstar got underway at the Bliss on Tuesday night. There was a line-up of favorite artists, but the occasion was all about who would be the first Superstar in season one of the show. The three worthy groups treated the audience to a last round of performances, but the highly anticipated moment of the big announcement came after eleven o’clock. It was a nail-biting and tense moment as the three finalists held hands to await the results and when it finally came; the live audience could not get enough.  Duane Moody covered the red carpet and has a report of the grand finale.

“Duane; it’s all been building up all week. We are very excited about tonight. I think that the viewers at home, in the audience have picked wisely; they always do; they always have the last say so we’ll see who wins tonight.”

Duane Moody

“Why such effort in talent in Belize?”

Amalia Mai

“We recognize that young people need an outlet. With so much crime in our society, I think that it is important that we provide that avenue for the young people of Belize and they have always come through vey big for Channel Five. We are very grateful for our viewers; we are very grateful for the talent that we have. To work with them it is always a pleasure and we always try to keep them in the company.”

Sharmane Garcia

Producer of the show, Sharmane Garcia, says that the success is tremendous.

Duane Moody

“You changed up the show bringing in different features: the knockout round, the facebook feature. What made you go to that?”

Sharmane Garcia, Producer, Be the Next Superstar

“Well Duane thanks to you as you know my partner in all of this. Like I said, everybody we always open to stuff and we want to try new stuff because we are appealing to the younger audience. Superstar was just a way to bring some fun into the homes. And I must say I am very happy with the turnout of the knock out round because it is the first time that performers have to fight for a spot and I think that the performers who stayed and battled it through; I applaud them.”

It was a show of comradery as the winner of the talent competition and the ten thousand dollars grand prize was announced. Twenty-three performers eliminated and fourteen weeks of grueling competition later, Ascenthium was named Superstars.
