“I would like to thank faculty and staff of SJCJC for a job well done. This is the first year we got first, second and third in cape examination and we are very proud and very thankful of their hard work. We have three students, our most outstanding student Dorien Villafranco and to be able to qualify for outstanding awards, you must take six and out of those six you have to take: Caribbean Studies and you have to take Communications Studies and two majors; two unit majors. So he took Caribbean Studies, the Communication and he did physics and payroll mathematics. He got six grade ones.”

“And this is something most people may not understand that is very difficult for the country and for the entire region?”

Mirtha Peralta

“Yes it is and the second place was Kadesha Usher, she did 6 units, she got four grade ones and two twos and again physics and pure mathematics. Third was Vanessa Ayala, she did six units three ones and three grade twos.”

Jose Sanchez

“Now how do you sustain this level of accomplishment? What is it in the SJC culture that allows this to continue?”

Mirtha Peralta

“It’s the faculty, they are hardworking and the caliber of students too that we recruit. Every year we recruit from all parts of the country. We have from as far as Toledo to Corozal and that’s a part of our mission to recruit students that are well rounded and of course academically good and so I think our teachers also put in the time and we provide them with extracurricular we provide them with a holistic education that is a contributing factor.”
