More shootings and choppings across the land

Throughout the country criminals have been hard at work, keeping the police busy and the public up in arms. On October sixth, at nine thirty p.m. twenty one year old Linsford Lord, a Belize City resident was walking at the Corner of Curassow and Pelican Streets when he was approached by a man he knows as Alfred. Alfred pointed a firearm at him and fired three times, but fortunately the weapon did not discharge. Police are looking for one suspect in relation to that incident. But there were plenty other violent incidents; Raphael Martinez, the Police Department’s Press Officer told the media at the weekly press briefing about another shooting incident in Belize City, a case of maim in Cayo and a robbery that almost caused serious injuries to a Santa Elena resident.

“There was a shooting incident on the seventh of October at one-twenty p.m. where police visited the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where they saw Orlando Marl Burgess, twenty six year old Belizean laborer of a Belize City address suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the left leg, and two to the right leg. Investigations revealed that on the same date at about one p.m., Burgess was riding his bicycle at the corner of Sibun and Ebony Streets when he was approached from behind by a dark complexioned male person who had his face covered with a mask; who pointed a firearm in his direction and fired several shots at him causing the injuries. No one has been detained for this incident and police continue investigation.

Darrel Kelly, twenty year old Belizean Laborer of United Ville visited the Police Station and reported that on twenty-fifth of August at ten-thirty p.m. whilst walking home along with his brother from a wedding, he was approached by three male persons—two of whom he recognized. They reportedly got into a fight where he was kicked and chopped causing his left little finger to be severed. He also received a chop wound inside his left hand. The men, reportedly, then made good their escaped.  As a result, the police have detained a Belizean Laborer of Santa Elena Town pending charges and are looking for another regarding to this incident.

One Mister Navarro who was coming from church along with his two sons and upon reaching home, they were approached by two male persons of dark complexion dressed in full black with their face covered with black clothing. They had in their possession a point thirty-eight revolver and a sawed-off shot gun. One of the robbers allegedly placed the weapon behind Jose Navarro’s head and demanded that he come out of the house and placed him on the ground and then the other went inside his house and stole an undisclosed amount of money. Whilst on the ground, one of the robbers fired a single shot with the sawed -off shot gun at Navarro—hitting him to the right side of his head. Luckily, it was only a graze; causing the wound.  Both men made good their escape into the nearby bushes and police continue this investigation.”
