‘Ah win the Lotto,’ says retired cop

A Belmopan resident is the lucky winner of Saturday’s Lotto draw. The Belmopan resident, who is the retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, Eduardo Wade senior, will be taking home over one hundred and forty thousand dollars in cash after taxes. News Five spoke to Wade who says the numbers came to him while he was lying in his hammock, enjoying the breeze.

Eduardo Wade Sr., Lotto Winner

“I bought my ticket from a store in Belmopan. I selected my own numbers.”

Jose Sanchez

“They had some significance to you?”

Eduardo Wade Sr.

Eduardo Wade Sr.

“There was some significance as it came to me while I was lying down in the hammock at a farm that I own. And I saw those numbers on a piece of area rug that I took to the ranch. The numbers that I actually saw was two, three, eight [and] six. And I toyed with those numbers and I came up with those numbers which are the winning numbers.”

Jose Sanchez

“So how do you feel to be a winner?”

Eduardo Wade Sr.

“Well I feel happy and good.”

Jose Sanchez

“Other than the new friends that you will gain, do you have anything that you intend to do with the funds?”

Eduardo Wade Sr.

“Don’t know much about the new friends, but I know there is no immediate plans as to how the money will be handled. I am a retired police officer. I retired at the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police five years ago. I have seven children—four of them are already out of their house and I have two younger children; the youngest being eighteen years at this time going to U.B.—both of them. It’s not going to be wasted because it is technically for me and I’ll use it appropriately.”
