It’s not me, it’s the cab driver; man busted for handling stolen goods

Jermaine Jorgenson

A mechanic, who was also before the courts today, claims he is an innocent victim after stolen items were found inside a taxi he was riding in. Twenty-three year old Kelly Street resident, Jermaine Jorgenson, now faces charges of Theft and Handling Stolen Goods. He is being accused of stealing a tester, assorted tools and a Renco battery among other items; all to a total value of seven hundred and fifty-two dollars. The items were stolen from Charles Heinz on October sixth.  In court, Jorgenson, who was unrepresented, pleaded not guilty to the charges and said that he caught the taxi at Princess Hotel and Casino at about four o’clock in the morning, but they were soon pulled over by the GSU officers, who found the stolen items. Jorgenson told the court that there were two other persons inside the taxi along with the driver, but he was the only one detained and charged. Bail was granted in the sum of five thousand dollars and Jorgensen is due back in court on November ninth.
