Gangster, Steven Polonio, killed

Steven Polonio

Eight persons have been killed since Friday and after five o’clock this evening a Belize City Resident with a long rap sheet was shot and passed away at the Karl Heusner Memorial minutes ago. Twenty year old Steven Polonio, who has been in and out of court since he was a minor, was shot on Mayflower Street in the Ghost Town Gang territory. It is not known what Polonio, who is from the Back-a-town gang, was doing in the rival gang territory. But it is known that the bullets caught him on the arm and face.  It’s the second attempt on his life this week. On Monday afternoon, Polonio was in the company of Oscar Grande on Sittee Street when shots were also fired. He evaded those while Grande was shot on the leg, but this evening, Polonio wasn’t that fortunate. We’ll follow up on the story on Thursday’s newscast.

  2. MADDYVANDIJKDEREALISTO says:

    Good riddance.

Don’t need to hear about the rest of this story, so keep it short and un-important.

  3. justice says:

he killed kadeem monsanto, and just shot lucretia myvett and was a menace to society shooting all over the city, now justice is done.

  4. Uncle Benji says:

Congratulations, it is celebration time. In the USA we are starting to see the demise of Obama, and here at home, another sucker bites the dust.

My personal greetings go out to whoever turned off the lights on this low life gansta. O happy day!

  5. Bzn says:

It’s a sad situation and his mother, grandmother sisters and children if he has any will be the ones suffering…

But there is an old saying “You live by the gun you die by the gun”

  6. Al says:

This young man looks intelligent, he looks like he could have been anything he wantead to be, it is sad that he made such wrong choices.

I don’t understand the gang mentality of territory. There is no part of the country that belongs to one set of people and others are prohibited from entering, that is totally crazy. Why not form a gang that build up the neighborhood. Form a gang to see whose street can look the best, help the little old lady who lives alone to cut her grass. Form a gang for good and stop this killing.

Instead of hiding illegal aliens, why is the churches not trying to reach these young people. The end to every gang member is the early grave, but becasue these people have nothing to look forward to, nothing to want to live for except poverty, life means nothing. It makes me so sad.

The government is taking this country into such despair, the poor is getting increasingly poorer, the politicians are getting wealthier, living in their big houses and driving their new cars, while the poor people are lucky to have flour to make fry jack. Somethings must change, please Belizeans do not accept this as the norm it is not. Rise up against this government and let them hear your voice.

  7. Ixchel Pop says:

It is with a tinge of sadness that I read of the death of this young man. Such a sad waste of a young life. One wonders if situation could be different, and he not follow this self destructive path. I don’ believe it is all about making choices- it is far more complicated than that. It is what options are open to you has a young male in Belize and in some circumstance there is no option. Our social support system has long deteriorated, there is so social protective mesh in place by state actors to save the young people in Belize. Our government refuse to put in place the system to save this generation and sadly his story will be repeated over and over.
I guess it is to some measure of satisfaction for those who he harmed while alive.

  8. A Jew says:

This guy wont be missed, another thug off our streets.

  9. Uncle Benji says:

Gangstas are costing Belizean taxpayers lots of grief. Their criminal ways is stagnating our beautiful country.

Is it possible to start an organ bank, where these gangstas vital organs are removed when we know that they are going to die? The government could resell these organs to medical institutions for small fortunes. Sort of offsetting the extra monies spent on security and police related work.

    Think about it!!!!

  10. deedee says:

That’s right justice……because of him Dana lost her life too, he should have seen his end coming with all the b.s he was carrying on with.

  11. RealBelize says:

I personally heard this person talking and bosting about how he got everyone scared back a Ghost town just minuted before he wnet on a simple mission to prove that they were. He was drinking a stout and smoking a cig and i saw him when out the shop and heading toward mayflower minutes later i heard several shot and said to my self dam he really wanted to prove a point to his followers (so to speak) later i found out that he was the one who got shot. dont take any pitty on people with mind set of his demise they are like rats in the street making like difficult for people who wants to make something out of life. Come on he killed Tony aka Ninja or the guy Sutherland, shot Panky and trevo and has been seen frequently riding around the area with a loaded pistol. I know he had family and friends who feels this but what about the affected familes he cause harm to. In other words you reap what u sow and more needs to go in order to cleanse this beautiful place call belize

  12. Enough of the gloating says:

Lets not be quick to celebrate any type of murder in this country. It just another black eye for our Jewel.

There are no angels here. The killers are right there celebrating this broad daylight carnage while it devalues our city, our country, and our reputation. The only winners here are the gun suppliers, and others who make profit from all these murders!

  13. Common Sense says:

Uncle Benji or whatever you are. You are clearly an idiot. Obama will be victorious because no one wants a racist idiot as president but you

  14. kimberly joseph says:

well its noy good to rejoice on crime its afecting our country but just keep in mind when we get rid of criminals less crime nw my cuz can rest in peace RIP KADZ

  15. Common Sense says:

One less killer and that’s good however I still blame parents for all that are happening in this Country. Children just are not being raised properly or taught how to be respectful of themselves or orthers, or how to live morally. Everytime one gets killed you hear the family say, “we don’t know why anyone would want to hurt them because they are just cool,” Does cool mean he terrorize other people but took care of us with all his stolen goods and stolen drug money? It seems like parent s don’t care where the money comes from that their children bring in as long as they get to enjoy their loot. Belize people wants to blame the government and yes they are partially responsible to keep us safe but people look in the mirror, how are you living? What values are you teaching your children? What lifestyle does your children see you living? Belize people never want to take responsibility for their wrong doing they live putting blame on everyone else, they are experts in turning their wrong into their right. As an observer I think everyone in Belize is to blame for the state of the country the citizens and the government and all the talking and finger pointing is not going to fix it, only the PEOPLE can get the job done. Look in the mirror Belize people be honest with yourselves and ask what have I done to contribute to this cold, heartless, callous generation that we have produced. Now the chickens have come home to roost. Action speaks louder than words and all Belizeans know how to do is TALK TALK TALK no action.

  16. Storm says:

1 down, 99 to go. Finish that job and we will have pretty good peace and security on the streets.

Al, logically you’re right. I think our gang phenomenon is mostly the result of fatherless children who substitute the gangs for complete families they never had, multiplied by the old truth that the love of money — especially quick and easy money — is the root of all evil.

Sadly, a handful of gangsters ruin the nation for the rest, so like rabid dogs, I think they should be hunted and gunned down.

  17. Reality says:

Why do some people cry on the government because someone chose the wrong path in life. Oh no support. No this, no that. The government never gave me $h!t. I had to make my choice and fight and claw my way for what i have. Why cant they do the same. We are so reliant on someones hand outs and give away that it sickens me to the pit of my stomach. Its disgusting and despicable for people to want everything handed to them.

Get offa u rear end. Get up, clean up urself. go out and do something with ur life. Get a weed whacker. cut yards, paint houses, do something to make ur life a little better. Or u’ll be another picture on the news, forgotten the next day.

  18. concern citizen says:

Someone said that Belize is the 4th worst country when it comes to crime, I think they should have left out the number and just say WORST country when it comes to crime. I have never seen a country turn 360 degrees like Belize did, in crime especially killing, in my day crime was so petty it was hardly notice that was the real jewel. This is not a jewel it is “HELL” jewel means peace, safe, and love for your brothers and sisters, the way it was. It seems like centuries ago when belizeans were like a village everyone careing for one another , everyone respect each other and help citizens the way the bible taught us to be. I think that is the problem the bible no longer exist in Belize it’s all about the money, no love for each other.

  19. dear fren says:

its never gud to wish bad for people but all i hav to say is rest in peace.. its ur choice how u liv and u chose tht way.. its sad to c anotha brotha gone.
    gone but not forgotten- fren

  20. elvia lopez says:
