Telemedia shareholder meeting but no dividends

It might not be as highly watched as an episode of Law and Order, but suspense is heightening in the old capital this evening over whether the Government will comply with the order of the CCJ not to deal with the matter of dividends at Friday night’s Telemedia AGM. On Wednesday night we reported that in a dramatic ruling on Wednesday shortly after ten a.m. the CCJ ordered the G.O.B. as controlling shareholder in Telemedia to ensure that the matter of dividends is not dealt with at the AGM. But given the G.O.B. track record of ignoring court orders and arbitration awards, there is great speculation in the air as to whether G.O.B. will instruct its government appointed board. Attorney for Dean Boyce and the Employees Trust, Godfrey Smith, confirmed to News Five earlier this afternoon that notice of the CCJ Order has been sent to members the Telemedia Board and that he expects that it would be a “remarkable thing” for the Telemedia Board to attempt to flout the order of Belize’s highest court. One sure thing, the AGM proceeds.

  1. Uncle Benji says:

Where is my money? I have invested my monies in Telemedia and now I want to see my profits. So the courts ruled that there should not be a distribution of dividends, big deal!

We are the Dean Ali Ba-Barrow boys and we are bad. We have plans for those monies and we want it now. Sign the checks Mr. Vasquez, and let the monies flow. We will worry about defying the courts thereafter. Between my brother, ex wife, and my law firm we can whip these courts into a frenzy.
