Neighbor’s machete attack fueled by jealousy?

Another chopping incident occurred over the weekend in the Corozal District; this time in San Roman Village. Ocias Cobarruvias was walking home along with his son and a friend, when his neighbor attacked him with a machete. Police say, Julio Vega allegedly pulled a machete from off his bicycle and started hitting him repeatedly to the back, left rib cage and stomach. Vega then chopped him on the head, causing a large wound. But what was the motive for this attack on Cobarruvias? Cobarruvias says it’s jealousy.

“Thirty-four year old Ocias Cobarruvias, his eight year old son, Joscias, and a friend, Herson Garcia, were walking home around eight-thirty p.m. on Saturday night here in San Roman Village, Corozal District when a man identified as his neighbor, Julio Vega, approached the group of bicycle and started attacking Cobarruvias with a machete.”

“We came walking by the corner when the guy came out with his machete and bike and he took out his machete and then he started to chop the next guy. So I ran home and I grab a stick; but Ocias took the guy’s bike and started to defend himself with it. By the time I returned, the attacker had already gone into his house. It did seem like he was drunk because I don’t think that he would have done it if he wasn’t drunk.”

“I was coming with my son, Herson Garcia and a friend, Paco. Paco went to his house and like fifteen steps after he left us, the man came out on his bike and he passed right beside me and the man pulled out a machete and came towards me to hit me and I dodged it. He then grabbed his bicycle and I used it as cover. The bicycle fell and then he chopped me in the head. But he hit me a lot of times with the machete. The doctor says that the machete reach to the bone in my head.”

Cobarruvias received a large cut wound to his head and six stitches to close the gash. But what could have triggered Vega to attack him? Cobarruvias says that it’s jealousy.

This is not the first time he came here. He had come here two times before to my house and I have witness that he has already come to my house. To tell you the truth; he trip on a piece of board and he fell alone. My wife can tell you that he had come here two times she saw it.”

Drunk or sober, jealous or not, the man nearly killed another — but for the grace of God we would have another murder and another fatherless child.

If we can’t hang this violent fool, then let him die in prison. Lock him up and throw away the key.

Bestiality caused this rift. Animals attacking animals. How can these savages be called anything but animals?

Good Gawd, these animals belong cages and in a zoo. Belize is nowhere being a nation of working people. Poor George Price. He is crying in his grave.

A buffoon for prime minister, land stealing government ministers, corrupted imigration officials, unsafe city streets, roaming gangs and wild animals attacking each other. We call it the Jewel. What a joke!

It’s the same all around, last night 13th August 2012 a young girl was accosted by a grown woman just for passing to go to the shop as the woman wanted to show herself in front of her friends. The young girl responded back as she had not done this woman anything that would bring on this incident, the friends answered but the young girl told them right off. This woman’s name is ………….. of the Jane Usher Area, and she has been in quite a number of incidents already in the neighborhood as the last incident she was stab by the person she attacked and she hasn’t learnt her lesson as yet. She is trying to create an incident like what happened with these men and it may turn out nasty.

People people. why always been ignorant, only see the one side.
Cobarubias has always been attacking his neighbor. The only way he feels like a man is when he is with friends. But of course he have a brother that is a PC and always feel to do what he want.
A person will always defend himself from a person who is always jumping the house, piping in the window when you are bathing, so what?? No one can stop this perverted away from your house and family. or perhaps just make him turn bert vasques.or Wait until useless police come to see what is happening.

sherif, maybe you’re right. If the man is a trouble maker in San Roman, then people there need to arrange to handle him in a more effective, smarter way. I agree with this, when I saw Cobarruvias, I saw nothing for Vega or anyone to be jealous about, so I wondered about that explanation of motive.

But Vega handled his problem whatever it is, stupidly, and got himself in more trouble. Who is the village chairman, where is he, and what does he do to keep his village running peacefully? Maybe the village needs a new chairman.
