Corozal residents buckle up for Ernesto

Willard Levy

In Corozal Town, where the rains are expected to be the heaviest from Ernesto, residents were taking it in good stride.  This afternoon we spoke with Willard Levy, Coordinator of the DEMO, Corozal. Willard told us that weather conditions were fairly okay; there was minimal rain. Shelters were opened in the district around two this afternoon, but so far residents prefer to stay in their own homes. Willard says that the residents for the most part were keeping updated with the met service reports.

“We closed business this afternoon at one and it has remained close so far; so business should not be operating in the town right now.”

“The traffic is as per normal; the people are up and down. It isn’t all that as hectic as we would’ve expected.”

Andrea Polanco

“Now, Mr. Levy, you mentioned earlier that you were going to be opening the shelters at around two o’clock; have those been opened?”

Via Phone: Willard Levy

“Yes, we have opened the eleven shelters; however at this point we don’t have anybody in the eleven shelters. People are going by, looking around seeing if the shelters open and just asking if it’s going to maintain open should in case there is a need to go in but at this point, we do not have anybody in shelters.”
