Aspiring politician gets caught in fight with cop

Gilroy Usher Jr.

During this morning’s press conference with the police, two cases were brought up that involved altercations. One burglar could not wait for the occupants of the house to leave the premises, so he burglarized the place while they were still inside. And the other case involved an aspiring politician, Gilroy Usher Junior, who ran on the P.U.P. Belize City Council slate. The police department said he got into a fight with a court bailiff in the presence of a police officer. To make matters worse, a gun was involved in the incident.

Insp. Fitzroy Yearwood, Police Press Officer

“We had an aggravated assault reported on Friday by Police Constable three-three-four Edgar Poot—he is presently attached to the Prosecution Branch here in Belize City Eastern Division. He is saying that around twelve-twenty-five p.m., he was in the Bailiff’s Office, Mister Gabriel Casey’s office, along with one Gilroy Usher Jr. where a struggle ensued between Usher and Casey. He tried to remove Mr. Usher and this is when Usher hit the police. The police was hit in the face and Usher was trying to remove a firearm from his waist and the firearm apparently fell. He and the police struggled and he was eventually subdued, detained, charged and will be arraigned in court this morning.”

“Is that Usher’s version of events also?”

Insp. Fitzroy Yearwood

“Well we don’t go about versions; we only report facts. That’s the report. One Irma Novelo, a housewife of Belize City, reported that around six-thirty a.m., a dark complexion male entered their house through the back door and he proceeded to rob her of a gold chain and medal valued at eight hundred dollars. She managed to run away from him and locked herself—along with her common-law, Carlos Medina—in a bathroom. After they heard the shuffling stopped, they came out and realized that he took a SMART cell phone and a wallet containing three hundred dollars. Police have since detained Paul Alvarez, a twenty year old of Pickstock Street pending the outcome of investigation.”

Whenever I go to Court, I get patted down by security, have to turn off my cell phone, can’t wear a hat or shorts or sandals.
These rules are strictly enforced by the court security, so how is it this moron can walk into court with a gun?

Then he punched down his own father election day after his father lost the election and ran off for days with the money that left over and now this! Worthless not to mention his brother who killed Chris Galvez, this is the kind of family that wants to represent Belize, hope the people of Port no fool to put these criminals in power. all we can do is pray for our fellow belizeans so they can fine their way back to civility. Good grief, no moral , no etics. Belizean men need to step up and be better e.g. for their sons and daughters.Stop spreding their seed with every woman they meet and take care of their kids for god sakes. We need better parents. Kids are a direct reflection of their parents. That means we are failing.Grandma can’t do it all. Come back from the states and take care of your kids.

I don’t know how this case doesn’t piss the ordinary Belizean off. So you are telling me that certain laws apply to certain people and not to all. For everyone that has come up on a gun charge that involves violence isn’t it standard procedure to remand them to prison license firearm or not? This just polarizes the fact that an aristocratic double standard does exist in Belize. Justice is truly not for all and only applies to some and we as Belizeans have become !@#$%^& to our aristocratic masters. We only seem to get upset when someone posts a stupid comment on facebook that has no real bearing on our lives.
