Tourism Minister says land sale to Deputy P.M. Associate shady

In March just prior to the elections, we carried the story of a prime piece of property owned by Belize Water Services Limited in San Pedro that was cancelled and sold off to nineteen year old Alyssa Tun of Orange Walk Town. Tun paid two thousand five hundred dollars and thirty cents for a property with a market value as high as a quarter of million dollars, given its location on Laguna Drive in San Pedro Town. We bring this up again because it may have been lost in the election campaign and because on Thursday the Deputy Prime Minister said that a house lot in San Pedro is valued at thousand dollars. He was likely referring to the fire sale of the BWSL property. The transaction was made on December fifteenth, 2011; the lot was processed and leased for purchase on the same day and paid for on January ninth, 2012. In justifying the land amassed by his family, most of it crown land at prices extremely below market value, the DPM also said on Thursday, that his family was not normal, but hard working. We checked out Tun’s credentials, she is not exactly a member of the clan, but close enough. She is the niece of one of Vega’s henchmen in Orange Walk Town. Back then, Minister Manuel Heredia was asked about the sale. He told the San Pedro Sun that; “People would normally ask me for a recommendation sometimes. I feel like it is a little shady as to what went on over there with that land because there is a recommendation letter regarding this person that I don’t even know.” The recommendation letter which Tun obtained was the proposed site for a new BWSL office.

More of Barrow’s great pinata — none of his ministers are normal, and neither is he, so that justifies this relentless theftocracy.

Much more of this and I think the villagers may decide to storm the castle with pitchforks and torches. Nobody could blame them.

  4. Concerned San pedrano says:

Now this really looks shady!!!! Since Minister Heredia has factually said he does not have any idea of whom is Ms. Tun. Can we get a clarification??????

I totally agree with Storm. The people of Belize have let off our corrupt ministers too easily off the hook in the past, so now they are become more brazen and their crimes are escalating. They need to be stopped!

  9. Tourism Dead says:

Nobody more shady than the illiterate Minister Heredia.
He set up is family to have the boat runs from San Pedro to Chetumal and back and destroy the tourism business in Corozal for the water taxi, land taxi, tour operators, and hotels.
He only wants San Pedro to be a tourism center in Belize and the rest of us can go to R@$$.

  10. Young Gial says:

This man has the gal to talk about how his family is not normal… Ofcourse they noh normal, they theif, what normal about that? The rest of us that are normal, apply for it and noh get nothing. What he think, they more hard working than the rest of Belizeans? We got Belizeans that work for more years than his family and still noh own nothing. Belize, you better stand up to bullies like this man, enough is enough. This is more than insulting, he telling us without shame how he just give weh the Belizean assest to his family as it that is normal. Vega, we call that theif, but that noh new to you and your abnormal family huh?

So what is the prime minister going to to about this corruption? In my personal opinion he will not do anything. It is up to us to take the streets and demonstrate against this out of control corruption. I make a call to all my country men to protest against this and take our country back.
