After over a month in Belize, 2 Jamaican nationals face deportation

Romando Michael Richards

Two Jamaican nationals left Kingston, Jamaica on June third en route to the United States, but for unknown reasons, they had a change of plans and instead sought refuge in Belize. Since June seventh, twenty-seven year old Romando Michael Richards and thirty-one year old Rayon Anthony Spence were living on Electric Avenue in Belize City, but they will soon be sent back to their country. The Jamaican nationals arrested and charged today for Disembarking a Vessel without the Authority of an Immigration Officer. They appeared before Magistrate Hurl Hamilton where they were deemed to be illegal immigrants.

Richards and Spence wasted no time and pleaded guilty to the offenses; they were both fined one thousand dollars each to be paid forthwith or they will spend six months in prison. Magistrate Hamilton also granted a removal order to have them deported to Jamaica after the fine is paid or at the end of the sentence. The men were handed over to Immigration personnel this morning during a routine check at the Queen Street Police Station. They were interrogated, but gave as many as five different versions of how they ended up in Belize and Jamaican driver’s licenses were the only form of identification they possessed.

Nothing suspicious here. I hope our security people investigate them THOROUGHLY before they leave — could they have been up to no good in the Jewel, with criminal associations here?

It seems unlikely that they would have been planning to visit the States without passports, so that version of their stories doesn’t ring true. Or maybe they are just the dumbest world travelers ever.

How are all these people getting into the country without no one knowing when they are coming through the airport and off ships how corrupt is this gov. Getting I hope the republicans in the us is watching how their money is being wasted in this gov. Their money is being divided between people in this gov. And the corruption keeps getting worse because the money is not getting to where it’s supposed to go and criminals see Belize as a haven for themselves aren’t you at lease a little embarased barrow I guess you are because you said it yourself in the house saying no wonder they think we are incompetent.

They commit no crime except jumping off a boat and they get deported, what a joke. They just try an leave their hell hole jamaica and have no money to get immigration and job usual way. They try to come here and find a job and work for a bit, then they would have gone and got residency later. This is stupid and they should not be deported, there is no proof they are criminals at all. So stupid.
