Armstrong loses a finger and assailant detained in prison
Gavin Armstrong lost his index finger during a domestic dispute on July fourth in Rio Grande Crescent, an area off Faber’s Road when he was allegedly chopped by a machete wielding man. And today, thirty-one year old Alex Myers was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on three counts: Attempted Murder, Maim and Use of Deadly Means of Harm upon Armstrong with a machete. No plea was taken and Myers was remanded to the Central Prison. He is due back in court on August twenty-second. According to Armstrong, he went to the area where Myers lived, in order to visit his girlfriend. He and Myers got into an altercation and Myers allegedly pulled out a machete and chopped him, which severed his index finger.
Evil intent of the attacker needs to be harshly punished, even where the attacker failed to inflict mortal injury. Decades in prison if I were the judge.
