News Five Journalist participates in International Visitor Leadership Program
Two countries within this region, Belize and Mexico have been chosen to send a participant for an international visitor leadership program designed to increase mutual understanding through communication at the personal and international level. The twenty-four participants in the program are established or potential leaders in government, politics, media, education economics drug and crime prevention and a variety of other fields and News Five’s Jose Sanchez has been selected to represent the country. It is a ten-day tour that will review the history, structure, practices and future of television broadcast journalism, explore current and potential contributions of television broadcasting and examine how television influences and reflects American society. The program will include a tour of several U.S. cities including Washington D.C., Atlanta Georgia; Jacksonville and Tampa in Florida and Chicago Illinois. Other countries participating in the tour include: Malaysia, Egypt, the Dominican Republic of Congo, India, Iraq, the Netherlands, Russia, Sri Lanka, Turkey to name a few. Among the alumni of the program are over three hundred and twenty former heads of governments and cabinet level ministers and journalists.
