Busted with weed in his pocket

Gyang Staine

A Neal Pen Road resident is behind bars tonight after he was allegedly busted on Monday with almost three ounces of weed. Twenty-one year old Gyang Staine appeared before Magistrate Hettie Mae Stuart this morning and was charged for Drug Trafficking. He pleaded not guilty and while bail was offered in the sum of five thousand dollars, Staine could not meet it and was remanded to the Belize Central Prison.  Police say that at around twelve-thirty p.m. on Monday officers on mobile patrol spotted Staine behaving suspiciously in the Port Loyola area. He was stopped and searched and police allegedly found the marijuana in his back pocket. His case has been adjourned until August eighth.

Three ounces — a pretty big wad of weed. I’d say this man is a dealer, and should be treated as such.

So who appointed you “Storm” as chargé d’affaires in societal/criminal matters in Belize? I always read your comments and you are the master pontificator. You speak with absolute authority and confidence like you know it all. You should relax off your heavy handed (or worded) approach on here. All the suspects are still human beings and deserve the same treatment as the next man; law abiding or not. They do deserve discipline and correction but it should be tempered wit forgiveness and understanding. Why not take that approach? It like the woman caught in adultery in the Bible. Jesus told her accusers dat the sin free ( essentially perfect) person who be the first to stone her. What happened? they all left cause no one is perfect. NONE! Stop be quick to judge and condemn and be more understanding…………

From the age of around 5 or 6, a human being starts understanding right from wrong and the consequences involved for doing wrong. At the age of 21, I am pretty sure that this guy knows and understands that marijuana is an ILLEGAL substance and that he could be fined and/or jailed for it. So if he decides to not only walk around with it on his person, but also stupid enough to act suspicious when he saw officers, then he damn well deserves to be punished to the full extent of the law. The law is not obligated to pet and pamper (forgive) nobody. You know the law….ABIDE BY IT OR STAND THE CONSEQUENCES!!!!! FINAL!
