Police need help to identify drowning victim

Fitzroy Yearwood

Earlier today, a body was found floating in the sea near one of the docks at the Fort Street Tourism Village in Belize City. Sometime before seven this morning, police were called out to the area where the decomposing body of an unidentified Hispanic male person was fished out of the water. How and when he met his demise is still uncertain and a postmortem examination is pending; foul play is not suspected. News Five spoke with Police Press Officer, Inspector Fitzroy Yearwood, who says the police need the assistance of the public to identify the body.

Insp. Fitzroy Yearwood, Police Press Officer

“Police were called out to an area at the tourist village somewhere around terminal two where they saw they lifeless body of a Hispanic male in the—what I would say the forties—dressed in a green t-shirt  and a blue jeans pants. The body was examined. There was no obvious sign of physical violence to that body. We are asking the general public if you have a loved one that is missing to please come and assist us in order to identify this body.”
