Belmopan cop and Teakettle woman die in accidents

Ken Emmanuel

A Belmopan police lost his life in an accident over the weekend. On Saturday evening, Police Constable Ken Emmanuel was riding towards Belmopan between miles fifty-four and fifty five near the junction of the Hummingbird Highway when he was knocked down and killed. Seventy-one year old Carlos Santos told police that he was driving towards Belmopan in his Isuzu pickup truck when the high beam light of a vehicle going in the opposite direction impaired his vision  causing him to hit Emmanuel. Emmanuel, whose bike was extensively damaged, suffered injuries to his face, abdomen, and a broken foot. He succumbed to his injuries around nine-fifteen that night whilst undergoing treatment at the Western Regional Hospital. Santos has been detained pending investigations. In a separate incident, a woman was knocked down and killed in the city that same night shortly before eight-thirty that night. Sixty two year old Maria Torres of Teakettle Village had alighted from a bus between miles three and four on the Northern Highway when she was knocked down while attempting to cross the road. Fifty-six year old, Engineer James Bowman told police that he was driving a pick-up truck heading towards Belize City when upon reaching in front of Benny’s apartment he hit Torres who received serious injuries to her body and died on the scene. A notice of intended prosecution has been issued on Bowman.

BMNG, very funny, 3 miles of speed bump, For Bowman, how can you knockdown someone infront of a residential area and still kill them? you had to be going atleast 60mph to have caused that damage.

One of the hardest thing in life is to bury someone you love…even harder is knowing the person who does it walk free..please get it right this time and make the person who did it pay the price…he was a father, brother, cousin, nephew and friend who will be dearly missed especially by the kids he had to leave behind
