Single Mother gets write-off; but not home from S.S.B.

Caren Robinson had been in the first set of persons to move to Fresh Pond, a small community on the Boom Road. But she was struggling financially, and did not feel it was safe to leave her young daughter alone in an area with few people while she was working. So she decided to move out until she and her daughter would be able to secure a better financial future. Her daughter is almost finished with sixth form and they are both ready to return to their home. The Social Security Board housing write-offs included her home, but her home has been stripped of all furniture and fixtures, and guess what? Even though she is on the write-off list, S.S.B. is now telling her that a man by the name of Norman Middleton may soon purchase her home.

The government sponsored Social Security Board housing write-offs were to help people like Caren Robinson. She is a struggling single mother who fell behind on payments. When she found out she would receive a write-off, it was more than welcomed news since her house has been published for auction.

Caren Marie Robinson, Received S.S.B. Write-off

Caren Robinson

“I was very pleased and happy to know that I was able to have my own house because for many years I was unable to pay my mortgage to the amount that was specified initially. I really wanted to be able to fix it up, but with the time, I am a single mother and I’m trying to educate my daughter and she is going to complete this year. So it is like everything was falling into place until when I found out about the house being written off within Social Security.”

Jose Sanchez

“When it was being written off—one of those many homeowners who wouldn’t have to pay the rest of that mortgage—what did you think when you saw that newspaper clipping with your name on it; you got a write off?”

Caren Marie Robinson

“I was very happy, I cannot even explain. I thanked God because not everybody is privy to owning their own home.  So this was something that was really a blessing for me and my child.”

But this poster girl for the housing write-off is now a victim of mischief. She may still have the keys to her house, but someone has claimed her house in December 2011, and though she still owns it, SSB and Housing won’t say for sure if it’s hers.

Caren Marie Robinson

“When I went in for a statement because you know I started to move around and I got a statement from social and that’s when I found out that somebody else had interest in my home. I went in and they showed me where my account was active up to the thirtieth of November 2011. After that they closed it and they said that Mr. Norman Middleton is a person of interest with the house. Every time I dialogue back and forth, they say it was under investigation and I had to wait until the board and the audit was in. But this has been three weeks now this week, but no kinda concrete answer they have given me. So as far as I am concerned this house is still mine because I have the proof that the list they have is September thirtieth; revised October thirty-first 2011. I was still on that list so how comes conveniently they took me off. I had chair, crockery, clothes, documents, albums, bed, computer; everything was still in the house because like I said that’s not my home where I am at down there—this is where I am from originally from Boom.”

Jose Sanchez

“In December 2011, what happened to all those things?”

Caren Marie Robinson

“I got a call stating that someone was cleaning out my house and cleaning the yard and I come up immediately and I found out from different people that the gentleman who usually does the cleaning and stuff from the village told me that Earlene Baptist was the person that hired him to clean house of all the stuff. On January eighth I made a police report and Earlene told me that. That’s when I found out that Norman Middleton is the person of interest with the house. And when I went to Social Security, they also verified that Norman Middleton, effective December, have been going through the process of attaining the house in his name.”

Jose Sanchez

“But for clarity, your name was on that write off list from couple months before?”

Caren Marie Robinson

“Yes, well the Prime Minister said thirty-first of October was the last revised list; I’m not sure of any other list.”

Jose Sanchez

“At this point, you don’t even have windows in this house. What happened to most of these things?”

Caren Marie Robinson

“The same people that were hired to clean the house helped themselves to whatever else because they sold my sofa—I’ve seen it in the neighborhood and they’ve called names.”

She has sought advice from an attorney who has written to the SSB without a proper response.

Caren Marie Robinson

“I don’t know where else to go, where else to turn because nobody is listening; nobody is giving me no answer. And I don’t want them to think I’m not interested. I am interested. I want this house; this is my house. I’ve been here from 2001; before it was transfer to Social Security. So this is the reason I’m here cause I need somebody to give me concrete evidence that I will be the beneficiary of this house—255 Fresh Pond.”

Wwere you paying the mortgage all along our are you just running back there because you heard of the write off?

  2. OEC says:

the Prime Minister said that the write-offs were for non-performing loans. It’s her house, it’s in her name. the PM talked bout the single moterhs who this would help. There you go. here’s a single mother. so why is the driver of a minister trying to take her house. and why isn’t SSB giving her the house, since it is in her name on the writeoff list.

  3. ECO says:

SO IS IT THAT IF YOUR HOUSE GET WRITEOFF SOMEONE ELSE MUST GET IT. IF THE WRITE OFF MEAN YOUR HOUSE PAID OFF, RIGHT!!! SO WHY THEN ARE OTHER PEOPLE GETTING HOUSES BOUGHT AND PAID FOR? PRIME MINISTER WHAT IS HAPPENING AT SSB? YOUR HOUSE GET WRITEOFF BUT SOMEBODY ELSE MIGHT GET IT BECAUSE THEY INTERESTED IN IT?
IS THIS A SIGN THAT INSIDE JOB AGAIN AT SSB? OR IS NORMAN MIDDLETON A SPECIAL PERSON? IS HE A MEMBER OF THE BARROW FAMILY? GIVE THE LADY EH HOUSE, EH GET WRITE OFF.
