Christian Workers Union tells S.S.B. employees; DO NOT BE INTIMIDATED

The scandal at the Social Security Board over insider trading continues to spiral out of control. At the heart of it is the C.E.O. Merlene Bailey. On Monday, the Board of Directors combed through an audit by Pannel Kerr Foster and decided it was necessary to dismiss the C.E.O. Chair of the Board, Lois Young, however, is resisting the decision. By Tuesday, certain management and staff in at least two branches were being coerced to sign a letter urging that the C.E.O. be retained despite the board’s decision.  The Christian Workers Union has reacted to the ploy saying it is dismayed over the maneuverings initiated by certain management and non-union employees. The CWU president says that the Union should not interfere in a Board decision.

“Through media reports—and your station was one that brought out the news last night—based on that, we were made aware and we began to look into the matter this morning and we were surprised to learn that indeed, there is a list going around, circulating. We believe that it is being promoted by certain management staff and possible non-union members because we have people who are not in the union. But what was most disturbing is that they implied to our members that the union was supporting this effort. It’s totally untrue, we are not. We were just made aware of it last night, as I said, by the media reports and we didn’t have any involvement in the formulation or the dissemination of this information. What we understand is that in Corozal and Cayo, our members have been coerced and intimated that they should sign this document. So this morning we lodged a protest with the acting C.E.O., Miss Vega on the matter, stating that it is not our position to intervene on matters like this. This is a management issue between the board of directors and the chief management staff. So this is not a matter for our union and our members to decide. From our understanding, the board of directors has already decided to dismiss the C.E.O.   What we are saying is this, if they have decided that, they must have concrete information as to warrant that they dismiss this person. So why should we interfere in something like this. The board has decided this; let it be, let her be dismissed. We have, in our experiences with management, a lot of our members for lesser offences than this, they have been terminated and dismissed.”

Gonzalez says they have forwarded a letter to their members, calling on them to desist from signing any letter or petition concerning Bailey Martinez’s dismissal. The board took the decision to fire the C.E.O. following the audit by Pannel Kerr Foster which interviewed staff members who had reduced their loans with the S.S.B. to participate in a government write-off of non performing housing mortgages.

Now isnt the Board Dictator like telling you you have to sign the petition? How on earth can you force a union to sign a letter that Lois wrote just to save a UDP. Vote them out CWU, Vote them out, you know the unions had a better relationship with the PUP, it was the leadership that sold out to the UDP. Look at who sits on the Board of the Unions, NTUCB. But you have a right to vote, vote out the UDP and when elections come around vote out the NTUCB president and VP.

Bailey has to go, she encouraged employees to steal from poor old people’s pension and from sickness benefit, the next time you get 25 dollars a day for staying home sick. it is because of Ms Bailey deeds.

  3. 100lizean says:

The post of Bailey Martinez is not political, therefore the ones signing is just in sympathy of, but that cannot save her. The Board is acting duly, but the timing is not good. The PUP use to work good with unions, but guess they had to bring Assad to do a good split, especially to the teachers union, since then, the unions are a weak institutions, serving themselves when they can.

  4. Got fish says:

The corruption officers must stay, there is more money to steal, more time needed to cook the books before elections. People must be payed off, the line is long and growing.

“We steal from the other guy and pass the savings on to you for election day.”
“One vote per used home, two votes for new home. Insiders get three homes.”
“Trust us we know how to do this and not get caught”
“gangsta rule the streets, we got nice clothes and rule the money.”
“sign this or else more bad news for you”

  5. Breaking News says:

Breaking News ! Two UDP were just caught with dual citizenship. Please call your media houses to find out if Its true. IF Shakron cant run then Dean Barrow arrogance cant allow UDP to still run, dont hide it. If its true let the US Canadian and Guatemalan embassies acknowledge that there are no passports for these people.
