Motocross winners in Santa Elena

The Motocross sport is one of few in which knowledge of mud; aerodynamics and engines are combined to elicit a fantastic visual show.  On Sunday in Santa Elena no less than six hundred and fifty fans watched as twenty riders, including an import from Canada, took to the air and defied gravity. Tim Banman, the president of the Motocross Association, told News Five who won the event categories and invited new fans to come out to view the next motocross.

“We did have one of those mud races. We just can’t get away from the rain it seemed like. We had a big crowd of people—we had over six seven hundred people there. We had Guatemalan riders were here again; they performed well. We had just over twenty riders this weekend. It turned out great. We had MX1 professional category. The winner for that one was Travis Dyke—he has been racing up in Canada for the last two years; professionally training and everything. He surprised us a little bit by coming out. He actually took first place. He is a solid rider—he’s doing good in foreign and we really respect him for it. We had a great time with him. He promised he will be here for the next race on the twenty-sixth of February. That’s a tough rider and we’re all anticipating that show. And the second place winner, we had Peter Wolfe; first time second place winner. Then we had Jimmy Braun from Spanish Lookout as well. Just an excellent race. We had a couple of bad wipe outs, but it’s part of the race. Then we had the MX2 which is the two-fifty class and we had this Colombian rider, Yershon Ortiz was here again and he has experience in the mud and that’s why he had the overhand of our guys again and he placed first in two-fifty class. We had second place was Gordon Dueck of Spanish Lookout and Chris Reimer; the young kid from Spanish Lookout as well. Then we had the MX3, which si the beginners one-fifty class. First place on that was Marlon Dueck, from Spanish Lookout, young kid first time winner for first place and then second place was Brian Dyke from Blue Creek and then third place was Abe Weib from Spanish Lookout. So overall we had an excellent turnout. The show was good despite the rain; no one left. They even did some extra shows that we never had before which was the wheelies, catwalks you call it. Not much for competition just giving the crowd some extra entertainment at the end of the show and we realize that people really enjoyed that.”

Banman says that the next Motocross event will be held on February twenty sixth.

Good to see the show picking up. It’s a big thing in foreign countries, so keep it up guys.

  2. Initiate! says:

Seems like they have them shows once a month or more – hope they don’t run out of steam too quick like that, as its like one rider a show that gets seriously injured.

  3. Clayton Rempel says:

Just to make things clear he did not race in Canada for 2 years. He only started racing this year and only raced 3 races. He didn’t even have a dirtbike before he went to Canada at the beginning of last year. Oh ya and he is from BLUE CREEK not Canada.
