Philanthropist Ras Dara gives from the heart

Belizean philanthropist and Unsung Hero 2011, Dara Robinson, is paying tribute to musical icon Bob Marley this weekend at two venues across the Jewel.  On Saturday, fans of the late musician, those residing in the Sugar City, can look forward to conscious reggae vibrations as they experience live musical performances from Marley and friends on the big screen.  On Sunday the entertainment moves to the Old Capital where Dara anticipates that the turnout and donations received will greatly assist in his food program for underprivileged children.  News Five spoke with Dara this afternoon and he told us what we can expect from his fundraising efforts.

“The ninth annual tribute to the late great Bob Marley. This dah mi ninth year and my first time taking it to the district. Tomorrow, People’s Stadium, Orange Walk from six p.m. until. That is where we will start the tribute. I linked up with Miss Paula and Cheky and they bring the vibes that I wanted and it wasn’t only about paying tribute to Bob Marley but also doing the same feeding program where we are collecting can foods and things up there. I must tell you that going to Orange Walk for those couple days, the love and respect that those people and the business up there treat you, I almost feel like Bob Marley and they really into the same consciousness and like everything that I was pushing over the years. They are glad that I am talking it up there. Then if the weather is blessed and everything go well on Sunday MCC Tennis Court from four p.m. until. Same thing we are asking people fi you can to bring up a can food. The price of my show is only five dollars, and trust me it worth lot more than that but right now I know it hard and thing. So we just ask the five dollars fee to come in and enjoy the show.”

Dara says that the proceeds of the food drive will go toward his feeding program and to assist an Orange Walk resident with diabetes.
