Online poll says NO to mass naturalization

On the other highly controversial topic, we asked viewers last week if they agree with the mass registration and naturalization of immigrants before elections. The participants in our e-poll were overwhelmingly against the practice, with eighty-two percent voting no and eighteen percent voting yes. The question also provoked strong responses on our blog, including one viewer who said, “I say no to mass registration and nationalization especially just before elections are called in order to influence the results. It is shameful, a disgrace and blatant abuse of power and the system”

it is so stupid that all of a sudden people have to register for naturalization because the fact is that all is because of politics and a point of bribe the way i see. All should be done the proper way. and also that register to vote stuff is stupid too at the same time due to the fact that politics is all in it. i over heard a woman say while i was just looking on in a big UDP shirt that ” she is looking on so that no PUP comes in the line” very naive of her and stupid at the same time.

I say no and not because of politics. We can barely afford to house, educate and give jobs to people already living here why invite more people to feed off our already limited resources

the government should be very ashamed of what they’re doing, it is very wrong, they are making people become belizeans and they don’t even know how to speak or write english much less understand. do they even know our belizean histroy? did they even take a writen test of any kind. “NO” but yet they are know belizeans. i’m here in the united states for over 10yrs. and i’m no way close to get a citizeanship over here. or have any politicians paying my way through.

You are a big fool. The govt is doing wat is constitutional not wat they want. You said those new Belizeans don’t know how to write and speak english; would you consider wat ur first word on line four is;it should be “now” not “know”. I guess their english is better than yours. You didn’t get American citizenship bcos of ur criminal records in Belize before u left for USA and the Americans have detected; it’s unfortunate that you will soon be deported back to Belize because u would continue ur stealing and murdering.

The UDP think they own everything even the citizens they want to Nationalizing….oops you mean Naturilization..the granting of citizenship to foreign born people. Guess Dean Barrow was away and did not have time to edit the newspaper or write the headline article as he normally does…
