There is already a fixed term of government in the constitution. 5 years after which the Governor General can force the Prime Minister to dissolve parliament because the Government of the day has exceeded the 5 year limit. The government of the day can call an election any time before the expiry of 5 years. What is the PUP getting at?
As for the immigration reform. It sounds like electioneering. Why talk about that when it is working against you but keep quiet when it is working for you. That is why I am literally a PRIVATE CITIZEN because both sides like to play with people head like we fool fool.

Be Real, is there another option? So we got to work with what we have and take part in making the change. Whether you do it is a private citizen and call them out or join a whistleblowing organization. Do your part and make the change. Complaining and dont doing anything has never put us forward.

I understand BE REAL and CONCERN you have a point too but the question that lingers in our minds is that which other party can we try since the biggest parties are the blue or red which are the ones that over and over they commit atrocities to the jewel of ours. people some times are so politically blind that because my grampa was this color i stick to it but really if i see that this party is of no good then i have the right to choose any of the two or three but now things are different politics seems to he some kind of hereditary it goes in the family from great gramp to the kids now which i believe have these things happening. could be that if i vote against my family i might be kick out of the house might be a reason why people keep it as a family tradition and not a individual right. lets see what happens wishing a third party takes over and we rest after all this yrs of only red or blue.

Be Real, there is a fixed term, you said it right. But one that is not working.

I agree with a 4-year term and a fixed date similar to municipal elections. Be the change you want to see!

Can’t believe the PUP’s proposal of having a 4 year term for elections after they have used it to their own benefit in the past. Come on guys, our constitution says 5 so lets abide to it. No need to change.

I believe the four year term and a fixed date for general election is something good for our country. We the voters will be able to remove a govt at a much faster time if they are not producing the results the beliezean people want. I support it all the way but also would like for the PUP to say if they would be the next govt they would make the 4 year term effective immediately. So the PUP can only serve a maximum of 4 years in office.
With regards to the immigration laws and policy reform, I would like to see something in there where the opposition of the day can monitor that as well. Any govt will be able to do the same things we are seeing right now just at an earlier time frame. We need check and balance. We need to make sure the people who are given belizean citizenship are deserving of it. But we need to make sure the opposition of the day can monitor it too. Be the watchdog for the people.
