PM speaks on S.S.B. C.E.O.’s situation

The highlight of the sitting should have been light rate reduction and the Social Security Board mortgage write-offs. But the controversy surrounding S.S.B. employees who allegedly committed insider trading have marred the entire project. The person at the top of the S.S.B., C.E.O. Merlene Bailey has been suspended pending an investigation on the insider trading. It was an Achilles Heel to the Program on which the Opposition made many hits. The Prime Minister felt it necessary to address Bailey’s situation while making it clear that no name was added to the list that he had approved at the end of September, 2011, which is before the S.S.B. staff reduced their loans to meet the fifty thousand dollar ceiling.

“Those on the other side, who tried to concentrate their fire on the C.E.O. of the S.S.B., can’t get away with that. What it appeared was being attempted by staffers at S.S.B. had and has nothing to do with the government’s write off program. In any case, what was contemplated could never have happened because from the time I learned of the allegations that were making the rounds, I spoke to the chair of the S.S.B. and I knew that the Chair was going to convene a meeting to deal with allegations. I also knew that I had the list upon which the contract was concluded; the list on the basis of which I had negotiated and there is no way anybody would have been added to that list without the approval of the Government of Belize and there was no way in the world the Government of Belize would have given that approval.  I am not going to try to defend the C.E.O., but I do have to observe that the ponderous denunciation of the C.E.O. coming from the member for Fort George is rich; it’s ironical. If I were the C.E.O., I would take some comfort from the fact that the man who is my greatest detractor is the man whose record is so well known.”

Now how about Reneau’s who is a board member and is supporting the SSB write off? Did you know that he is benefiting since his wife’s name is on the SSB list. Do the Union members know about this…me thinks he is compromising the union. Where is the transparency? Also I am told that the records show that CEO Marlene paid her loan on August to qualify for September write off….

  2. Concerned says:

The unions were bought over from since the days of the PUP, ever wonder why they all went to Bmp to riot and cause chaos, and all of a sudden they forgot what they were fighting for when UDP won? Check who the union leaders support. Who educated the VP from NTUCB? What is Reneau earning under the UDP and as a board member? Which union leaders are getting their loans written off? Ever wonder why the unions were quiet during the passing of the Ninth Ammendment? They are all bought and paid for by your tax monies!

LIAR, LIAR, Barrow is a LIAR. From the beginning Barrow new about Bailey. Wonder why Bailey is mum?; because she is covering Dean’s rear and wonder why Lois was against firing Bailey? cause Lois is covering bailey’s behind. This is a classic case of: YOU COVER MY @$$ AND I COVER YOURS.
