Women’s fight had serious consequences

Kaycia Fuller

The trial against Kaycia Fuller, ended in mid December with a conviction for Use of Deadly Means of Harm with Intent to Cause Dangerous Harm. Today, there was more bad news in court for the twenty-four year old, who stabbed Hibiscus Street resident Judean Brown multiple times on October second, 2009. Fuller appeared in court for sentencing, but Brown was allowed to speak before mitigation pleas were heard. The victim explained that she was stabbed four times in the lower back and once behind the left ear. The stab wound near her ear affected a nerve, which impedes Brown’s speech. She now has to constantly chew gum to keep her muscles loose and have therapy sessions three times a week. Brown says she no longer has control of her eye lids so she has to manually close her eyes to go to sleep and she wakes up with a swollen face almost every morning. Fuller called five character witnesses: her mother, Barbara Morter; her ex-common-law husband, Glen Leslie; her uncle, Churtle Thompson; her former Supervisor, Carmen Gonzalez; and her cousin, Sherlene Vernon. They all spoke well of her, saying she was never known to be a violent person. Fuller maintains that she was defending herself and expressed remorse for her action. She begged the court for leniency since she has a four year old that she will have to leave behind. Justice Lord took her clean record and mitigation pleas into consideration and handed down and imposed a sentence of three years in prison.

    Think before you act violent.

Three years in prison should set you straight.

  2. cg says:

so what happen to thinking about the daughter before deciding the best act was to walk away?…..these stupid women

  3. 100% Belizean says:

This is what happens to females who think they are so big and bad. Three years is nothing, they should have gave her a much longer sentence. That should have been attempted murder!

  4. marco says:

anyone that is attacked will defend self. There is this thing with women though, that gets to the nerve and they should be wise. They antagonize, provoke people to violence and then it is called domestic violence. It is rare when a woman walks away from trouble. They need to show who is boss. Women and Men: The boss is who can walk away from trouble.

  5. FP says:

marco, I don’t know with which women you associate. But neither I nor any of my female friends behave in the way you describe. We have never provoked a fight or been in one. We teach both our daughters and sons that violence is not the answer. You need new women friends and a course in the cycle of domestic violence. Ignorance is no excuse.

  6. Islander says:

Sorry Marco but you opened your mouth and nothing you said made any sense. In fact you sounded like the type of guy who loves to beat his woman for whatever reason. Gender had nothing to do with this …. We men do worst things to each other on a daily basis ” murder” etc
