Burglarizing his brother’s house

Andy Avilez

In court today, a Belize City man was charged for allegedly breaking into the Ordonez Street residence of his brother and stealing over a thousand dollars in items. According to Alvaro Avilez he became aware of the burglary when he saw forty-seven year old Andy Avilez, walking on Orange Street dressed in his stolen clothes. He went home and found that a flat screen television, assorted male and female clothing as well as cosmetics were also missing. The burglary was reported almost five months ago in August 2011 but no reason was given in court as to why Andy was just being arraigned for the Burglary. He pleaded not guilty to the charge and claimed that Alvaro had left the clothes lying on the floor of his house. Andy also claimed that he was badly beaten by police, who refused to take him to the hospital for treatment for an injury they reportedly caused to his head. Magistrate Roberto Ordonez ordered that Andy be taken to the KHMH for treatment before he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison. He is due back in court on February seventh. Andy was previously before the court for allegedly stealing from his mother.
