Moss freed of gun possession charge

Vanzie Lamb

On Wednesday evening, a gun possession charge which was levied against nineteen year-old Delroy Moss in March 2010 was struck out.   It was ruled that there was insufficient evidence to substantiate the charge.  Moss was subsequently acquitted.  Today another man walked away from gun possession and ammunition charges brought against him earlier this year. Forty-two year old Vanzie Lamb, a resident of Jane Usher Boulevard also saw his charges of kept firearm and ammunitions without a gun license dismissed before Magistrate Albert Hoare. His partially-heard trial was set to conclude today.   The prosecutor had already called all her witnesses and closed her case prior to today’s ruling by Magistrate Hoare.  On February first, Lamb was allegedly found in possession of a nine-millimeter pistol along with a box loaded with ammunition. Police say they found the box of ammunitions on a bed inside his home and when they searched the yard, they found the gun near a septic tank. This morning’s ruling was good news for Lamb who has a rape case pending a preliminary inquiry in the Magistrate’s Court where he was accused of grabbing a young lady from inside a crashed vehicle at the corner of Euphrates and King Street.  The primary school student further alleges that Lamb took her to his home in the Jane Usher Boulevard area where he raped her.  She later managed to escape by going through a back door and eventually got help from a Good Samaritan in the area.
