Wife doesn’t want husband charged for Arson

A Belize City man who was accused of setting on fire the bed where his family slept was freed today in court. Thirty-seven year old Gary Clark of Hunter Lane, was accused a year ago of trying to kill his wife and, in the process, injuring his young daughter. At the time of the incident, Clark and his wife were estranged. This morning, Gary was freed of the charges of Harm, Arson and two counts of Attempted Murder when a memo from the D.P.P.’s office was presented to the court because his wife, thirty-four year old Veronica Clark, requested that no further action be taken. On December seventh, 2010, Gary headed to La Democracia Village and allegedly set fire to a mosquito net which was over a bed where Veronica and their one year old daughter, Genesis, were sleeping. While they managed to escape the blaze, Genesis sustained burn injuries, which a doctor classified as harm.

The child did not ask to be born to these two fools or for her injuries, he needs to be prosecuted for what he did to her.

….And here I thought arson was a crime. Why the hell should anybody care what the wife wants or doesn’t want?? Fact of the matter is he commited a crime and should be duly punished for it. He should be facing charges of arson AND attempted murder and the wife should be charged as an accomplice AND for trying to obstruct justice. I really don’t know what some of the people in this government thinks with because it surely isn’t their brain.

I agree with Xtasy. A crime was committed here, an innocent child was harmed. This man should be prosecuted regardless to what the wife says. The prosecution should be able to proceed with or without the wife. This is one of the reasons so much crap is happening in Belize, because people know that they will be able to get away with it. The laws need to be changed accordingly.

  4. Goodness gracious says:

Exactly where would the prosecution get the evidence from to proceed with the case if the wife refuses to testify ( or if she is also charged as Xstasy suggests) ? Or do you geniuses think that the one year old would be called to prove the case? Think before you type.
