Murdered Witnesses; and Murder to Manslaughter to Acquittal

Mark “Pele” Vernon

The trial of a man who was accused of killing his cousin ended today. Mark “Pele” Vernon was initially charged for the brutal murder of seventeen year old David Alexander Burgess. His charge was eventually dropped to manslaughter, but the court could not secure a conviction on that lesser charge, even though three witnesses had given statements to the police. Kevin Casanova did not show up in court. The other two witnesses, Anthony “Breakdance” McDonald and well-known musician Giovanni Chi, have both been murdered since. According to one report, on August ninth, 2008, Burgess and friends were in a grey Chevy vehicle in the Caesar Ridge Road area where he was shot once in the head allegedly by one of his friends. Inside the car with Burgess were his cousin “Pele” Vernon, and a friend Alexander “Money” Underwood.  The circumstances were initially described as an accident, but after police interviewed witnesses including Pele Vernon and Underwood, they were both charged with murder. The charge against Underwood was dropped and Vernon alone was charged with manslaughter by negligence. This afternoon, a jury of nine women stepped into the deliberating room after Justice Herbert Lord summed up of the case.  Prosecutor in the case, Sheneiza Smith called several witnesses to testify against Vernon. The statements of the deceased men, McDonald and Chi, were admitted into evidence.

David Alexander Burgess

Before becoming a murder victim, in his statement Chi identified Burgess as the driver of the car and Vernon as the person sitting in the back seat. He could not identify the other person in the car. However, Chi heard the gunshot and saw the car swerve and then Burgess slumped over.   And before he too became a murder victim, McDonald gave a similar statement about Burgess being the driver, hearing the loud bang, then seeing Andre Trapp, also now deceased, on his cell phone near the scene. When McDonald reached the car, he asked what happened and Vernon allegedly said QUOTE “It was an accident, and I never mean it.” (Unquote) With so many persons dead and unable to testify, Vernon today walked out of court a free man.

This particular case is a strong argument for vigilante justice, to protect the good people from a dangerous animal. I hope the streets take care of it, the sooner the better.

Its a good thing that murder trials will no longer be decided by jury. the sad thing is that the no jury law affects murders committed after the no jury law was passed. Worthless jurors!!! And another thing; anyone notice how the acquitted guy is the last man standing. Everyone else in the story is 6 feet deep. Belize fi true. Very soon we wa hear dat the acquitted dude get murder same way
